Not my opinion of the kit version of that beer though.

Blergh.

It was the most popular of my brews with mega-swillers so I had no trouble offloading it.

I think the problem is that if you guys are all grainers your pallets have been ruined by great tasting beer?

Some kit and kilo is actually not too bad and for the price some of the results are amazing,

I mean a coopers kit with a few cheap twaeks and a decent yeast can make a massive difference.

My opinion of it comes from before I went AG and I certainly made better beers than how this one turned out at the time.

K&K is a totally valid method and I hope my comments here don't come across as anything other than my assessment of one particular recipe - with an understanding that such an assessment inherently entails a great deal of personal preference, etc.

Holy ****!!! Pragmatism from BUM?? I'm impressed!! B)

I'm pragmatic as ****.

I've only fairly recently started brewing all-grain, so I can't pretend to be an expert, but I find this to be an odd sentiment. How is a palette "ruined" by good beer?

I guess it makes it ******' hard to drink at work parties and **** anymore. Went to a function last night and the only beer they were serving was Crown lager. I ended up drinking wine all night, I couldn't handle the lager at all. Not even trying to be a snob here, it just tasted like absolute ****, whereas a few years ago I would have jumped on some free Crownies.

So I dunno if my palette is "ruined" or if it's just "no longer ignorant"?

Palate - used by beer tasters
Palette - used by Picasso
Pallet - Once lain down on by prisoners in the 1200s, now loaded up with cargo and forklifted onto a truck.

Palate - used by tasters of anything.
Palette - Available choice of ingredients in order to paint a picture. Used by brewers in their choice of malt/hops/adjuncts...etc...etc....in order to express themselves, just as any other artist does.
(By the) Pallet - The ONLY way to buy malt :chug:
