Dear All

My super thoughtful children (who are still young enough to be annoyed at losing Daddy to the 2hr bottling process) for Chrissy bought me a CO2 regulator. Unfortunately they got it from the US and after a bit of fiddling and research I understand the nut has the wrong type of thread.

I live in the Perth area - does anyone know of a good place to get the right nut (I'm pretty sure I can remove the stem and replace the nut) or would have a busted regulator (with OK nut) i could buy to test the theory?

cheers

Any of the specialist gas supply stores, BOC are well represented, should have one available.
Unscrewing the sprue from the regulator body can be entertaining, often easiest to disassemble the reg and clamp it in a vice with a couple of bits of soft wood.

Yeah, you need a 'type 30' nut, available from BOC for $45 including the stem/tailpiece, or a nut (<$20) from a homebrew shop if you can find one in stock. http://jbbrewsupplies.com.au/index.php?rou...;product_id=170
BOC aren't very useful, & won't supply the nut alone.

Might be easier to get a new regulator? Either that or get a broken reg & rob the part from it. The american type (CGA320) is the same as that used for a sodastream type fitting, but still won't work on a soda stream bottle unless fitted with a valve depressor.
As MHB said, trying to unscrew the reg fitting can be a MAJOR pain. I've tried once, but gave up so i didn't cause any damage to the reg.

BOC aren't very useful ....

When I first purchased CO2 extinguishers, and had to find fittings to go from the extinguisher to the regulator, BOC .. and all the other gas suppliers palmed me off .... luckily I found a hydraulic fitting company what took the time to listen to me and then get me the correct fittings.
