cleaning a fermenter - do I need to soak?

I am going to bottle tonight and was wondering if I really need to soak my fermenter before I start my next batch.

Is it ok to bottle, clean and then reuse the fermenter tonight or should I leave it soak overnight.

I would get some hot water into it, give it a good shake and wipe out with soft cloth. No need to soak unless stuff is still baked on in my opinion. Then a sanitise and you are off again!

Easiest IMO do it outside
1 Hose out muck/turb
2 spray with brewclean or simillar
3 wipe with cloth
4 rinse a few times
5 add sanitiser and shake
6 take inside and empty
 
Depends on the yeast you are going to use, I've dropped in a second cube after giving a quick rinse using the same type of yeast again
 
You should be right to clean (eg PBW or Napisan) and then sanitise (Starsan etc)

Yes you need to soak and clean it properly.
If you want substandard beer use substandard cleaning practices.
 
Thanks for the advice. Turns out I forgot to put water in the fridge to cool so I've got it soaking overnight. Second batch is so much better than the first!
 
You don't need to soak, but it's a pretty good idea. Personally I soak in sodium perc overnight or longer after hosing out the crud. breaking apart the taps and letting them have a good soak is also a grand idea
 
Take some time. Strip all the bits apart and soak overnight in your cleaner product. It's a good practice and when it comes to brewing, cleaning and sanitation is the first thing you have to get right.

If you want to reuse the yeast that's a great idea. But get a second fermenter and start the next batch of in a clean sanitised fermenter. Check the slurry addition rates on something like Mr Malty.

Also when you clean do a full soak, fill everything.
