Thought I might show a pic of my latest Bo-Pils that I kegged last saturday, since I started giving my beers a 50c rest for 30 minutes prior to the sacch rest I have noticed a vast improvement in clarity in the finished product, has anyone else seen this sort of effect from the protien rest? This is a single malt brew and no clearing agents were used apart from whirlfloc in the kettle. I was in a rush to keg this beer so it only had 14 days in secondary as well.

Looking good andrew.

When I use gelatine I usually get similar results, even when I brew from grain to keg within 2 weeks.

Ar eyou using powells malt?

If so do you think the rest effects the flavour at all? Might be something I'll look into if so.

My last few beers had gelatin added to the keg and they ended up bright like your pils. I am assuming the p-rest has helped with any haze since the gelatin is not meant to remove it, only the yeast. I also found it improved head retention and efficiency.

I wish I had taken a picture of my last Blonde since I think it was the most visually appealing beer I have brewed.

I normally do as you Slugger, but in an all pils malt beer chill haze can be a bit of a problem and gelatine just won't clear it up enough.
Yes this is a Powells pils, the beer has a nice malt aroma and a nice dry finish, the hops seem to have come through much better than my single infusion efforts with a very crisp sensation on the tongue.

Cheers
Andrew

Yeah I do know what you mean andrew. My biggest problem I have with the powells is the malt flavour. It really lacks IMO.

The german pils I brewed today was 50% pils and 50% munich to try and get a good malty flavour.
