Hi

After picking up a home brew steal off eBay and reading this forum for about a month, I thought it was time to get involved. The level of expertise here is remarkable.

I've decided to 'specialise' in cider and I currently have three ciders fermenting at the moment;
1: Brigalow Apple Cider, Day 14 (kit)
2: Mangrove Jack Pear Cider, Day 7 (kit)
3: Carmel Apple Hard Cider, Day 1 (recipe)

I'm looking forward to learning from the likes of Dave (awesome guide you've written up) and hopefully contribute a few more recipes to your cider list.

Hi there! Welcome to the forums :)

There is indeed an incredible volume of information and expertise here. Very overwhelming...
I'm a relative newcomer here too, and in the neighbourhood, over "The Bridge" (you live in Sutherland, you know which one I mean). It's always good to specialise in something. I specialise in Ginger Beer, but I'm looking at branching out. Maybe we can compare notes some day.

Welcome aboard and have fun!

Happy to share notes with you as long as you have a passport to get into The Shire... I don't know how I got in so i'm reserved about leaving and not getting back in again.

How are you going with your GB? That was going to be something that i wanted to get into but i'm loving cider too much now. A swap might be in order

Whether you easterners admit it or not, Menai is in The Shire! Except for that brief period of time when the TV show "The Shire" was on air. For once, we were happy to be excluded :lol:

Ginger is going good. It's my own recipe, so it's constantly evolving. There are still a few more things I'd like to try, but it's certainly getting there. I like to do everything from scratch, so it's taken a while to get to where I am, and it's why I've been reluctant to try other things until now. I've been keen to do a dry English cider for a while, but missed out on apple season this year. Next year, maybe... plenty of time to try a few beers before then. A swap sounds good one day.
