Hi guys,

I'm still experimenting with brewing cider and have tried Pear for the first time.

I used 850ml preservative-free pear juice, OzTops Yeast 2, 1/2 cup dextrose.

Previously I made Aldi apple/blackcurrent and apple cider and have come out fine, with differing flavours.

Now the problem appears to be with Pear juice. After brewing for 3 days there are chunks of pear looking stuff in the brew. I've had a taste and it tastes OK but wifey thinks it should be binned.

Do you guys think it's OK?

Thanks,
Ben

If it tastes good then drink it.

There's nothing in there that'll hurt you.

once it's been in the fridge for a while you will probably find it will drop to the bottom, it won't be infected, believe me, you will know from the smell if it has been

Also a lot of pectin in pear juice. Could be pectins causing the sediment to clump.

Cheers
Dave
