Hi,
Although I use to make beers many many years ago, I got sick and tired of cleaning bottles, I gave it away.
I also got sick and tired of paying exorbitant taxes on beer, and just recently I outlay-ed some cash for a keg CO2 system.
Im on my 3rd keg tonight. So, yes Im a noob.

I tried a can kit, a Tooheys limited edition Pilsner.
I was ecstatic the first time I tasted it, it still tasted like home brew, and over 2 weeks, the beer became better and better tasting.
It still tasted home brew though.

Then I tried out the Cheaky Peaks Gretschen wheat beer.
What a difference in comparison. The fermentation for was more vigorous, the airlock went mental for many more days than the 1st brew.
Finally, when it finished (in hindsight I should have left it another few days), before CO2 it tasted great.

After a week of gassing, wow. This beer tastes just like Erdinger.
My girlfriend, a German who only drinks Weizenbier, loved it.
Me too. So highly recommended.

I decided then to try something else from the Cheaky Peak range. This time I started a Maria.
The maria is described as "Mexican type of beer...".
Well after 2 weeks in the fermenter I force carbonated tonight, and am drinking it now.
Its not a boring Corona type beer as I thought.
This beer is sweet with, how do I say, butter and floral flavors. Trying not to sound gay with this description. However its lush.
It ***** all over the Tooheys (cough) Limited Edition.

Cant wait to try next one.

Im a fan (so far).

Mate, I'm pumped for you, for making beer you like. Its great right.
I think if you really are tasting butter in a lager you might have a ferment problem. Diacetyl can be a real problem when brewing lagers. You need to find out if the yeast supplied really is a lager yeast to go with the Corona 'clone' If so you'll need to read up on how to properly ferment lagers, do the diacetyl rest, start with enough yeast etc.
It sounds hard, but really isnt. Youll need enough yeast and a way to control temps during fermentation - that's it in a simplistic way.
Still, Wheat beers are forgiving and taste great too.

Thanks McKenry,

I tried it the next day and there is no butter taste anymore. So I am glad it wasnt a Diacetyl problem.
The flavours are very substle, but defintely floral. As I say, and my mates confirm "This is very drinkable"
