Saw this tunnel network overlooking the English Channel in Capel-le-Ferne, Kent, for auction on the Beeb just now and it got me thinking- I've always wondered about the utility of an underground brewery, there's a couple of +es:
* Temperature much more stable, and
* probably quite favourable for ales (probably in the teens.)
* Lack of airborne bugs
* No noisy neighbours (more useful for a residence) etc...

-es:
* Poor ventilation
* Poor drainage etc.

If it were ever to be developed into a brewery though, it would be great for its historic importance to be incorporated into a product, i.e. some product name that links it to its history. I guess it would be bound to have EKG in it though. :eek:

Some of the subterranean cellars etc that I read about, particularly where some of the European Monks have theirs, sound fantastic. This one would be a handy location I guess, but at the wrong end of the isle for some of our more- prominent fellow AHBers! ;)

Amazed that they're selling such a piece of History, should be owned by the government and turned into a mueseum
