Im new to AG brewing and would like to do some smaller batches as trial runs, say 9l, and I have 19l stovetop BIAB.

how would I go about carbonating this in a 19l keg?

I know its probably a waste of time doing smaller batches but I want to try and perfect a great stout recipe for sons bday.

So just do what I normally do? I usually let it carbonate for 36-40hrs

It will carbonate fine in a 19 litre keg. I would purge a bit longer after the transfer to get rid of any air, set your regulator to pouring pressure and within 3-4 days it will be carbed. Alternativly you u can carb overnight at 35psi, and will be carbed within 24 hours. Just remember to take your gas line off and release the pressure from the keg, and put regulator back to pouring pressure. I learnt that the hard way.

be very careful if you try to force carb. A couple of times I didn't get two full kegs out of a ferment and one ended around 3 quarters full. When I forced carbed them the same as I always do the 3/4 full one overcarbed and would only pour foam. I think its to do with the extra head space and the amount of CO2 available to absorb into the beer.

Fill the keg with co2 and purge....refill to 300kpa then disconnect the gas line....lift and shake the keg like a maniac for 10-15 secs. Leave it overnight in the fridge and then in the morning gas it and pour a test beer. If required gas again.

Thanks guys, good to know it can be done. Now onto finding some recipes

I don't tend to carbonate wort, I find its a waste of gas.
Usually wait until it turns into beer! :p
