Hi guys,

Recently got back into brewing earlier this year. After a very long hiatus. After dabbling in a few local markets and getting good feedback. Looking to step it up and offer my brews commercially. One thing that has got me stumped is where to get a decent brite/bright tank. So I am after a tank which is ideally between 200-500L. A lot of the pre-owned tanks are from breweries looking to upgrade. With many if not all of them way too big, think 1000L+.

What are my options?
The SS 20gal is a little too small.

The Speidel Braumeister is right size, but is it suitable? Can they hold pressure well?

Kegland have a conical 400L fermenter that can fit the job but is a little too dear at $5k.

Anywhere else I should consider? Not opposed to getting them second hand, but just can't find the stock.

Cheers,
Damian

Don't know where you are but here in NSW Work Safe (or whatever they are called this week) have come down pretty hard on Bright Tanks that don't have the right pressure certificates and they usually want a control board with a master gauge, over-pressure relief and alarms.
If you aren't going to spring for a new certified tank I would seriously consider just using kegs, not too hard to filter from keg to keg or even to modify the spear so 1-2L stays in the first keg...

You could contact Wes Smith at Integrated Brewing Solutions (he is a member here)
or Premier Systems Tim Wills at Premier Stainless Systems he lives here in Newey
I know both will offer quality products, not necessarily budget options.

Thanks mate. Definitely not looking to cut corners. But obviously don't have the biggest budget, also space is a factor. Whilst I would love to have a 1000L bright tank in my garage, it would take too much room.

I will look into those two suppliers to see if they have something suitable.

PS - I've relocated to SA last year. So don't really know where to look over this way either. Seems like most stuff comes from VIC and NSW anyway.

PPS - Might add, preference given to suppliers who don't have Chinese made tanks. Had a bad experience in the past. Probably a lot harder these days. Surely there are a few locals who make tanks.

It might be worth checking out what they have at https://www.brew-tek.com.au as well if you are looking at smaller sized commercial equipment. Not everything is on their AU website. The US site has more listed, but it can all be brought in.

I think both the ones I mentioned do some or all of their manufacturing in China, but I know both do their own QA and regularly visit the plants they use. They both back what they sell and have good reputations that they work on keeping.
