Brewery Logo's/ Bottle Labels

ok so i've got to thinking i now have 20+ ag brews under my belt so i wanna make a brewery/ beer label design.
i can build/fix computers but i'm no rocket scientist when it comes to using photo shop etc.
can anyone steer me in the right direction please?

i found inkscape ( http://inkscape.org/ ) to be pretty awesome for this, less daunting than Photo Shop and a lot more friendly when it comes to newbie label making. Open Source too which is always a bonus.

Do you have some idea of the logo design you want? Is it text only, if you want an image will this be a photograph or an illustration? If you search 'photoshop logo design tutorial' you'll get plenty of hits - I'm reasonably well versed in PS as a photographer for image editing purposes, but would be happy to have a crack at answering any specific questions you have. First step is a starting point - even a logo in a similar style to the one you want is a help.
