Hi Everyone - I have a birthday coming up and am also in the final stages of completing my AG setup - the final stages of which will be my present. I've got a couple of theories that I'd like to bounce off everyone.
Current Equipment:
2 x 50L Stainless Steel Kettles (1 x Boiler, 1 x HLT as soon as I pick it up )
1 x 38L Esky mash tun with Copper Manifold
1 x Goliath Counter Flow Wort Cooler
1 x NASA Burner + Reg
Already in the pipeline as another present:
1 x NASA Burner (to use with HLT)
As I see it, I have 2 Paths forward
1 - Spend some money on the slotted angle iron stuff which I can use to bolt together into a 3 level, gravity fed brew stand. I hear $100 will go close to covering the expenses.
2 - Spend a bit more money and get a March Pump with the idea of not spending any money on brewstands. Using the pump, it will be fine to use the NASA burner stands for the HLT and Boiler, and the pump will be used to transfer from HLT (on stand) to Mash Tun (on BBQ), which will gravity feed to Boiler, and then pump from boiler to CFWC.
I'm personally leaning toward option 2, because it involves less handy man work on my behalf, and is the most flexible for the near future. I'll also be moving house in the next year or so when we buy, and won't know if any stand I build now will suit the future house. It will also mean I'll have a March Pump B)
What I'm not sure about is the cost of a March Pump. I have it in my head at around $250.
Also, I'm assuming the march pump will be fine to transfer the liquid upto the mash tun on the BBQ.
Any opinions / alternate paths forward would be appreciated.
Cheers everyone.
