Braumeister - temperature sensor problem

Hi everybody !

First message, first problem =)

I have a braumeister 50L, i didn't use it for like two weeks, and now ... i can't get any heating because the temperature sensor always detects 102°C

Until now, I only tried unplugging/plugging all cables, to no avail.

I would appreciate so much to have any advice on that issue.

Check that the sensor sticking up from the bottom is tightened properly, not just the cable but the nuts/bolt also. I seem to remember someone somewhere had it loose and some sticky malt got inside and gave silly temps. Take the probe out and check that it is clean ie no sticky malt has caramelised inside.

Failing the above, contact your retailer or the manufacturer directly, they might be familiar with the issue and know how to fix it, send you replacement parts or help you in any other way that's needed to get your unit back up and running again.

Hi laks (& all), how did you go with this problem? I'm currently experiencing the same issue. Had a fiddle around with plugs on the back and it seems to change the temperature reading temporarily but then it does the same thing.

I guess I'll dump my water and check that probe.

(guilty confession/stupid mistake) - while cleaning her up yesterday with some PBW I had 10L of water (in 20L model) to cover the element but foolishly put the malt pipe in to the bottom. The pump drew water into the centre and in the process exposed the top of the heating element to air. I quickly put more water in and continued cleaning using both the pump and heating on manual control. It seemed to work just fine until this morning. Maybe this has put something out of whack....

Thanks Andy, I did have a quick look already there. Nothing similar in pre-existing posts that I could find.
I've loosened the heat sensor (quite a pain without deep sockets but easy to do now I got the right tools!) and gave it a wee scrub. So far so good, I'll have a brew on it this arvo and see how she holds up.

I did a longer test and then took the plunge to commit to a full brew. I'm most of the way through now and (touch wood) it seems to be going smoothly for now at least...

I was having the same issue with the probe constantly reading 102 degrees. I did some of the above pulling it out and cleaning it etc. and managed to scrape through a brew with it intermittently reading the actual temp and jumping to 102 and back again. Bloody frustrating. I bought a new probe from grain and grape (the post 2012 ones are not on their site but they have them in stock) and all seems right as rain again, which is a massive relief. It is a total prick getting the probe in and out.
