Boiler / mash tun pot. Where to drill tap hole?

hello everyone,

There maybe a straightforward answer to this question but I’m about to drill a hole for the ball valve in my boiler and mash tun. I have stock pots. Looking at blichmanns G2 boiler and some other 3 tier non gravity setups, I’ve noticed that the ball valve is drilled in line with the pot handle; I would’ve drilled a hole in between the two handles but is there any reason why the valve is drilled inline with the handle? Easier to take off the brew stand or something?

Better a late reply than none at all. My understanding is if you need to tilt your vessel to drain, then it's easier with the handle in line with the tap. Hope this makes sense.
