Beerbelly mashpilot breweries

Hello fellow brewers,

This is my first post on AHB and I was just wondering if anyone out there has one of these breweries or knows anything about them. Im looking to upgrade from my current homemade system (pic below)

So if anybody has any info it would be much appreciated

If I had the money I'd buy one. Maybe. If you want a top tier 3v system and can't be arsed making one yourself, or don't have the skills, or know anyone who has the skills to pay in beer, and you can afford it, why wouldn't you!

I was just thinking that if I was to build my 3v electric HERMS rig as a commercial venture, it would probably cost more than one of these.

That being said, if you're patient enough to learn the required skills and make friends with the right people, you could possibly make something as good or better for less cash.

I guess it's something you need to weigh up for yourself.

They look great. Well made, great features and equipment. But for that price tag I'd be able to build two similar systems or buy a 50l BM or two. But if you're completely cack handed or have more money to burn than time, they're a solid contender.

However...if you're seriously shopping around...

There's at least one brewer here who imported a Sabco setup and Blichmann make similar too.

There was a brewer on here who makes killer single vessel setups (Jonathon I think?)

Then there's the grainfather or Braumeister to consider for ease and convenience.

Sorry if I'm preaching to the choir. I'm a big fan of Beerbelly equipment and for me they had the quickest delivery service I've yet encountered.

If I could warrant the expense I'd have one sitting next to a williams warn crammed into the back of a Hummer with a couple of high class escorts doughing in.

But that's just my opinion...and fantasy.

BIAC still comparable with others.

I think we have a Free Trade Agreement with the US now, so that would kill the import duty.

I doubt that but if it it=s true will change a whole loit

Beerbelly stuff is awesome. If you haven't already ordered, get your order in now for delivery in the next 9-12 months. It should only take 5-9 follow up calls. The equipment is A1 no doubt. The manufacture and delivery is appalling slow and you won't get a truthful answer for a very long time, to ensure the job/your $. It's a bad business model in my opinion, but they continue to churn out fantastic stuff. My few experiences only. Last one was a couple of years ago though. Might pay to search the 'beerbelly delivery' threads before you commit a $$$$

mckenry, I've read the threads too and recently wanted to buy their SS fermenter thermowell. I was concerned for obvious reasons. I enquired with a forum member who'd used them recently and they'd had a good experience. I ordered mine on a Tuesday morning and it was delivered that Friday. These used to apparently be hard to get, but not for me and others.
Can't comment on their larger stuff but I think they've taken this feedback on board and have lifted their game of late.

Anything off the shelf you will get delivered reasonably quickly. If you get something built, like a pot or a whole brewery, you will wait. The build will be great, but you won't get it quick.

dont get me wrong its served me well and continues to do so but as i get into brewing more there are certain things that bug me about it im not really interested in fixing them and have the money so figure stuff it

The complete set up that was on display in the shop some time ago had a coil in the HLT for the herms heat exchanger.

It may pay anyone interested to ring / email them to find the current specs.

The image I was looking at looked like it had two plate heat exchangers maybe I need some beer to sort my vision out in fact I will its time for a saison

You are correct mate the one I have seen did have two plate heat exchangers but they were for chilling the wort at the end of the boil, not for use as a herms as far as I know.

Yes, for anyone importing stuff from the US and some other countries, business or private. There are certain regulations around it and the stuff obviously has to be produced in the US, not build in China then sold in the US. Do your own research before you commit.

GST still applies.

For me I'd be looking at stout tanks for a bling 3v setup I think Gav (member here) was the local retailer, polished inside and out and built from scratch with the only intended purpose of brewing, not cheap either though.
