Good Morning All,

I was helping a friend put together a recipe for a kits and bits BECKS clone, and i couldnt help wanting to do one of these myself.
however i would like to do a full extract recipe and just need a few ideas on the malt tins and hops.

i have a few types of grain in the cupboard:

*300g Munich
*500g Pils
*350g Medium Crystal
*500g Cracked Wheat.

i also have 250g Ligh Dry Malt, and a morgans Extra Pale Brew Enhancer LME.

If anyone can help me design a recipe for this, i would greatly appreciate it.

cheers jake.

Something like

1.5kg Light Liquid Malt
1Kg Light Dry Malt
150g Crystal Grain
250 Dextrose
20g Hallertau 8% @ 60 mins
20g Hallertau 8% @ 20 mins
20g Hallertau 8% @ 5 mins
Yeast US-05
O.G. 1.047 F.G. 1.012
21 Litres, 4.5% ABV, 33 IBU

Maybe 150 wheat as well.

Use a lager yeast if you like. I like US05 @ 18deg.

cheers

Thanks mate, that sounds pretty good, i will have to research it some more also does anyone else have anything they would like to add?

Cheers jake.

pcm's recipe looks ok, id swap out the 20 minute hallertau for hersbrucker,
I find it gives a sharper flavour than the hallertau which fits the Becks bill a little better.
Definetely go a lager yeast, 34/70 for a dry option or Wyeast 2124 or 2247.

Thanks mate, i have some 34/70 in the cupboard also and was going to use that.

Also was thinking of not using crystal but carapils instead and some cracked wheat.

*250g carapils
*150g wheat
*2x1.5 kg light pale malt
*250g dextrose
*200g my own toasted barley for that crisp bready flavour
* saflager w-34/70

*15g hersbrucker at 60 min
*15g tettanger at 20
*10g hersbrucker at 15
*10g tettanger at 10
*5g hersbrucker at 5
*5g tettanget at 0 and flame out for 20

I think thats what ill do???

Hi all, im pretty keen to put this on this week. Does any think this will work close to what im going for??

Go for it, you would probably need to tweak the **** out of it in future brews to clone a Becks but that recipe should
get you a nice light bodied euro style lager, and lets face it their all fairly similar.

The time has come to brew.

Yep ok then, im gonna do it tomorrow. Yay cant wait, dont we all just love brew days. Haha
