Hi All,

after tasting this great beer i'm in search of recipe that would get close to it (and make my father happy in the process)

according to the website they use 4 different malts: barley, oats, wheat and rye and it has a grainy taste with a slight floral hop aroma/taste.

also the following is supplied.

ABV 4.7%
OG 1045
Colour EBC 12-17
Bitterness EBU 28
Malted Oats, Rye, Wheat & Barley

so using my limited knowledge, and promash i've thought about the following.

12L Batch.

1.50 kg. TF Maris Otter Pale Ale Malt
0.25 kg. TF Crystal
0.10 kg. TF Crystal Wheat
0.10 kg. TF Pale Oat Malt
0.10 kg. TF Pale Rye Malt
0.10 kg. TF Roasted Rye Malt
0.10 kg. TF Torrefied Wheat

Hops

14.00 g. Challenger 60 min.
10.00 g. Fuggle 10 min.

as for the hops, maybe goldings or ek goldings etc might be a better choice to use for the aroma???

i have no idea for the yeast, but going for a 'classic' british ale yeast

this works out to be 1.042, 14.5 SRM and about 27-28 IBUs so its almost right according to the numbers.

anyone care to offer ideas / comments / insults????

I would go more for Xtal Rye tahn Roasted Rye...

Yeast 1098 or 1099...
try Amirillo or crystal for aroma

Just my rumblings...

For maximum rye flavor, flaked rather than malted rye, maybe the toasted rye malt addition should be toasted flaked rye addition?

Re late hop addition, mebbe they use Saaz or Hallertauer?

Jovial Monk

thanks, lots of things to consider :)
