Hi Everyone, This is Matthew.
This is our most recent update from C&C Distributing in California.
On 1/25/05 we picked up 1,400 kegs. Pepsi informed us that this is the last release of kegs that they will allow for 2005 at this time. This is due to their not knowing when in 2005, Corporate will decide to terminate Premix Soda production and operations. What kegs they currently have in their system must be saved for Summer quantity "float", should they still be in the Premix business at that time. Whatever kegs they have remaining will probably be exported to Pepsi China. We have known for several years that SOMEDAY this would come. It looks like the end is here for excess kegs in BULK quantities!
For this last batch of kegs, since the price has increased to $25/keg, we will now include (1) 5-piece gasket set for each keg ordered.
Comments in reply to posts we have seen since last visit:
-Race track lidded kegs were made with BOTH Plastic OR Metal handles. Production of both was simultaneous.
-Metal handle kegs were made with BOTH Oval or Race Track style lids.
Production of both was simultaneous.
-Round Lid O-Rings work fine with Race track lidded kegs. Pepsi has done this for several years.
-Metal handled kegs have the advantage of being stronger than the Plastic handles.
-We have SOME 3 gal kegs left: Race track lidded, unchecked; $25/e. - Fully checked/inspected, oval lid; $35/e.
