Does anyone know where I can get a 6 pack or carton of Anchor Steam beer in Brisbane or SE Qld? I looked up some of the major retailers' sites and don't think they do. Some of the more specialist places may stock it, or at least be able to order it in, I'm not sure.

If anyone knows or has details of good stores to contact that may stock it, I'd really appreciate it.

I think you are out of luck. I have never seen it in. Try Craft at Red Hill or Archive at West End.

Good luck. Let's know if you find it, it's a great beer. Had it off the tap in the USA last year.

If anybody knows where to get this beer, at all, I'd like to know. I only recently learned of the concept of "steam beer" and am very interested. Or perhaps a more accessible Australian alternative?

I'll be interested also.

I do have an Achor Steam Beer sign.

Sorry not in Brisbane but I just had a sixer at Hamilton Island of all places. Dis set me back 26 for the six pack but when you are rome as they say... Not sure about Brisbane though sorry

Archive has it I'm pretty sure not much of a fan myself though, could be it travelled poorly though

I bought a six pack of this from Archive a couple of months ago. Not sure if they would still have it but worth giving them a call. Agree though that it hasn't traveled all that well. Remember it being quite nice in the US but fairly average here.

Very ordinary beer, I reckon it definitely hasn't traveled well.

Tastes like Mountain Goat Steam Ale that hasn't been stored in the fridge; definitely doesn't live up to the hype.

Its in plenty of independent bottleshops throughout brisbane though...

Thanks for your help and prompt replies. I had a feeling that it may not travel well. On tap at the brewery in the US it is very nice.

King Brown, you mention some "independent" bottle shops. Any chance you could elaborate (names of one or two) or PM me?

The spotted cow toowoomba had quite a stash last time I was there a month or so ago if that helps. I found the beer pretty average, thought at the time it had not travelled well.

Disappointing to hear of everyone's bad experiences of this beer. When fresh, this beer is a really tasty, refreshing drop. If you ever get a chance, stop in at the brewery in San Fran or grab a pint somewhere on the west coast.

Couldn't agree more. A classic in its home town.

Slightly OT: I had the opportunity to try a few of their beers over in the states last year. The Christmas Ale, Liberty Ale, Old Foghorn and Breckle's brown were all great beers. Would love to try some of their summer range fresh.

Anchor Liberty is the source of WY1272.

If you wanna steam beer just accidentally put a lager yeast in your ale and run it at 18C.

enjoying a six pack right now................. not that it's much use to you, I'm on the other side of the country!!!!!!

It's being imported directly from the brewery through Robert Oatley Vineyards. Not in the major retailers, but it does have national distribution for any independent whom wants it.
