I scored an unopened 29KG can of coopers Amber LME today for free. The cooper rep insists it will be OK, even though it is out of date.

Anyway, i want to use it up asap, as i'm told it goes off quickly once exposed to air.

Anyone got any recipes that call for lots of Amber LME?

I know next to nothing BUT i have been looking at strong beers like tripple or trapist etc and they seem to have a lot of extract added even to some grain brews,

so i would look on the net for some extract brews and go to town with a HEAVY beer age it a long time and knock yourself out each time you have a beer ;)

and let me try one :)

P.S good score!

was Adrian the coopers rep.

Noncense on the go of part.

2 options -
1/ get a big plastic bucket with a lid and a honey tap and decant into that to then use.
2/ decant the malt into an used fermenter and you can drain it out the fermenter tap.
Note that the tap is not really big enough and will take a long time to drain.

I have stored LME like in option 1 for well over a year with no mold/problems.
Amber malt is great added to :
stouts, dark ales and really good with coopers IPA kits.
Excellent added to Barley Wine kits...
Fantastic added to Grumpys Theakstons Kits...
