Given that my gf's family is heavily involved with Australia Post, I can tell you that Express Post IS tracked (unlike what others here have said). However, Express Post only promises quick delivery, there is no recourse or recovery of your goods if the parcel is lost, the only guarantee that they offer is that they'll replace the cost of the post-bag not the contents of anything that was lost. Do NOT send valuable items via Express post. For parcel tracking AND parcel-contents-insurance, go for Registered Post, that way it is tracked and if the parcel is lost your goods are replaced up to $50 for the included cost of the Registered Post (its about the same cost as express post, but has normal delivery times).

Then how come everytime i give them a barcode number off an express post satchel they cant and wont even try finding my parcel....has happened on at least 4 occasions. Those barcodes might be scanned at a PO but i doubt it they are tracked.
