Hi!

Very new to brewing - 2 batches in.
Extract - Second batch fermented way quicker than 1st. I had to "top up" the air lock 3 times in a day then added a "blow off" valve
Does this mean its a dud batch?

Cheers

Hi Manticle

It was Safale US-05
20lt wort in 30 lt fermenter

OG: 1.056
FG: 1.010

Cheers

Hi Yum Beer,

I currently only have the budget sticker thermometer that came in the kit - it told me it was between 20 and 22 degs C for whole ferment.

Thanks

That's pretty unusual in my experience for the US-05 yeast. I've had that happen with Coopers kit yeast before, but my US-05 is usually pretty tame.

Mind you, if anything it's the exact opposite of a "dud batch", it means your wort is well oxygenated and the yeasties are obviously very healthy...

Good work on switching to US-05 so quickly, great choice of yeast. Can you share the exact ingredients of your brew just out of interest?

New-Guy, Good job you weren't using Nottingham yeast mate, fermenter would have exploded.

Batch is fine, welcome to forums - won't be newb for long.

Cheers,

Hey man, don't let your fement push you around.

I have more trouble with passive-aggressive ferments myself.
