Has any one ever used 5mm OD beer line? I got some Celli taps 2nd hand that uses it and a guy at CB says he's seen it used. I looked at some air line at RS online that might work. 30 meters of 5od x 3.5 Id for $36.

Just wondering if anyone has experience using it or what to use etc.

I'd be looking for proper beer line. Poorer quality line create excessive foaming by knocking the co2 out of suspension due to irregularities in the smoothness in the tubes inner wall.
You should be able to get the size you want from Andale, Lancer or Bracton.

I tried Andale and Bracton and Lancer with no luck. The smallest available in Australia is 4x8 or 4x7. Ill try clear drinking water tube from a hardware store. Its really cheap and hopefully it wont give off any flavour. If that doesnt work ill try some air tube.

I did end up getting some 3mm (3/16") ID beer line from the UK smokomark. It was a pretty resonable priced too with postage for any one who is interested.

I only used 4' of line and I am getting a great pour. I could maybe even go a bit less. I wish this standard was more used in this country coz I really love the shorter lines! I had to use a JG 5-8mm step up fitting from RS Online ($12 for 5) so I might have to see if I can go the other way and use it on my Perlick.

I'm thinking maybe it wont work as the Perlick spouts are wider. I like the way the Celli's work, spring loaded and creamer on push back (no flow control on my 2nd hand pub jobs ): but I hope it will work on the Perlick coz the forward sealing is much better.

I used to have Bevlex on my system, OD was about 10mm ID 4mm ish I cant remember. I've seen it in pubs so gather its a decent hose but mine was stuffed when I bought the used rig and plus it only had about 3 feet of hose per tap on it!!! That said I seemed to pour ok but I didn't give it much of a chance seeing as it needed replacing. I can imagine the large OD may give some insulation in the font which could be good.

I replaced with BC hose and seems ok. Only problem I could see with replacing with Bevlex was the large OD and winding up the longer hose required in a small kegerator would have been a problem.

Mate could you provide a link from where you got it? I came from the UK and had 3mm gas line (3/16) but needed to replace it. I just replace with Valpar Flexmaster II Beer/Gas Line 5ID 8OD and it sucks. I put in 1.5m but even 3m was not really enough. I used to be able to serve at whatever pressure I wanted (even 40psi) with 1m of 3mm. Now I'm restricted to 10psi

Yeah I got 30m I think so for 5 taps it should last a while lol. From memory it was delivered in less than 2 weeks.

Good stuff. I'm only running 10-12psi so I'm only using 3ft. Great for saving space in the keezer. Like I said beforeI wish it was more supported in this country.

Is the answer really this easy? Lose all the tangle of beer lines just by going down in size of beer line?
What's the catch?

I wouldn't say it's done and dusted but for the shorter lines I'm willing to persevere. The Celli's that are made for the beer line pour great but a littl slow. My 1 Perlic gets a lot of foam on the first pour but I'm still putting that down to a warm tap. Needs more experimenting I think but I don't have the time atm.

I cut the line on my Perlick down to 2.5' (with a JG reducer either end) the other night but on the first pour when the tap is still warm there is still a lot of foam. The 2nd pour is ok.

My keezer is in the garage which is not the best but as the weather in Melbourne atm is pretty cold... first pour tonight, perfect! So I'm using 2.5' of line with about 13PSI and getting a perfect pour first time. Im only pretty new to this home brewin biz but Id have to say that 5mm OD beer line is the answer to keezer/kegerater congestion. I reckon it kicks ass.

Only one keg going atm :( but i can coil it up and make it real tidy.
