    Whirlfloc tablets and OG

I've just brewed one of my last extract brews before moving over to all grain and something I noticed today has made me question how much using whirlfloc tablets effects the Original Gravity. I used the Morgan's IPA extract tin as well as a partial grain mash of 100g Crystal and 100g Caramalt...

    Advice on All Grain equipment

Thanks for that Duncbrewer! I'm leaning towards the Guten 70L at this point. I'll need to upgrade an outlet to 15A but that's no big deal.

    Advice on All Grain equipment

G'day Brewers! I'm looking to make the leap from extract brewing to all grain brewing as well as increasing the overall volume that I'm brewing and I'm looking for some advice on the right kind of brewing gear to get. I think I've got a handle on the fermenters and the fermentation process as...

    Forced Carbonation

Just so I get this right, in terms of bleeding the pressure, after 24hrs bleed the pressure and set it at about 12psi?

    Forced Carbonation

G'day fellow brewers! So I got my timing a bit wrong and was only able to keg some beer today that I was hoping to have ready for Saturday when family will be over for Xmas. Normally I'll set and forget at about 12psi for 2 weeks and it's good to go. However, for my brew (a Kaiju Krush...

    Recipe Critique - Leftovers IPA

I think next time I'll try your times for adding the hops. I was also thinking instead of using a 2nd Cooper's Pale Ale, I'll use a Morgan's Extra Pale malt extract. In terms of yeast, something that will produce compact sediment and highlight the hops

    Recipe Critique - Leftovers IPA

Honestly, the malt characteristics were still stronger than the bitterness of the beer. This is likely due to using 2 × 1.7kg Cooper's Pale Ale LME tins. I think the amount of hops are fine, though maybe adjusting the times during the boil and as you mentioned, just limiting to one dry hop...

    Recipe Critique - Leftovers IPA

The taste isn't horrible. Quite a resinous mouth feel and taste and distinct tropical aromas. Certainly something that can be improved upon, just not sure how.

    Recipe Critique - Leftovers IPA

Just an update on the ABV% I still don't have a hydrometer so I can test the FG, but after 5 or 6 pints, my face is feeling slightly numb and I've got that toasty feeling if that helps at all. Cheers.

    Recipe Critique - Leftovers IPA

Hey Brewers! I thought I'd put this recipe out for critique to try and improve on what is a reasonable base. I'm calling this one Leftovers IPA. The reason for this is that I had some pelleted hops laying about and I wanted to get use out of them before they started to go off or get stale. Let...

    Frustrated with end results

What do you mean by "cubing"? I've not come across this term before.

    Frustrated with end results

So the kits I've been using are a combination of grains, liquid malt and dry malt extracts. Hops are boiled at intervals as per the recipe, and dry hopped usually at day 4 and day 7. Fermentation temp is around 25°C and wort is close transferred to a keg. Keg is then force carbonated, and...

    Frustrated with end results

No matter which recipe I seem to follow or what clone kit I get, the end results have never matched up to the expectations I have. Don't get me wrong, I think it's largely due to me and not necessarily because I'm brewing with extracts. One of the biggest issues I'm having is getting those...

What PSI would you pressure ferment at?

    She's a little too carbonated...

This is the first time kegging and force carbonating. I tried 40psi for 24hrs, 20psi for the next 24hrs, and 10psi for another 24hrs. Any better recommendations for force carbonating? How can I overcome the problem for this keg?
