    Dry hopping set up

Don't dry hop with one of these, but I'm assuming the red post is used to fill the soft drink bottle containing the hops with CO2, minimising O2 transfer into the FV.

    KegLand Questions and Answers

Definitely translucent. If you want to store beer for long enough that UV is an issue, do you really want to be using a PET mini-keg?

    BIAB control unit

If you are building your "forever" brewery, and want a quality controller: https://www.blichmannengineering.com/brewcommander.html I've seen the 240V version at my LHBS, looks very well built.

    KegLand Questions and Answers

Are you in Perth? Luke from MWS would fabricate something like the above for you. Pictured below is a kegmenter they fitted out for purge-able dry hopping under pressure. (I have no relation to MWS - just heard good things about his work).

    Voss Kveik Recipe Ideas

My last 2 brews have been done with Lallemand Voss. Both successful. Both were an APAs Ive done before. My experience has been pretty consistent with what most people report. First brew pitched the entire dry packet and fermented at 35C. FG hit on day 2. Tasted great after 2 weeks in keg, with...

what gadgets do you guys need when you do home brewing?

A 10A/240V/AU plug version of the IPS-16S. I think it would be pretty popular if it was $150 - $200. I'd happily upgrade my project box containing an ITC/SSR.

    PET Kegs and more

Not a criticism, as I think it is great to see more attempts at introducing scientific method into home brew, but is there any chance at seeing the complete results set from your experiment? Your experiment as written definitely isn't conclusive, but having access to the selection results of...

    Kviek Pitching Rates

Lol - Kviek's tolerance to alcohol is the property I am the least interested in for the purposes of this beer. The 1040 ale was chosen specifically to use on a beer I'm very familiar with, so I will know exactly what flavours are from the yeast. It's also why I'm fermenting it hot -...

    Kviek Pitching Rates

I pitched LaBrew Voss into a 1040 Ale this morning. I pitched the entire 11g pack into 22L. No starter or rehydrating, just dry yeast straight onto the wort. Sitting at 35 deg, and after only a couple of hours it's already very, very active. It seems like a lot of experienced Kviek brewers...

    KegLand Questions and Answers

I haven't seen the RAPT in person, but the 118 kegmenters have been out in the wild for a while. They are the same diameter as a 50/58, (look to be a 58 with an extra middle section and 2" TC ports added). If the RAPT dimensions on the KL website are correct then the 118 would fit inside.

    Ferment in a Kettle (FIAK)

Thats awesome. Thanks for sharing the photos. I had no idea BIAB had been around so long. I only discovered BIAB about a 2006? through this forum.

    Ferment in a Kettle (FIAK)

You were doing BIAB in 1994?

    KegLand Questions and Answers

Hi KegLand. Just watched the webinar after seeing it mentioned here, and wanted to register my interest in the the benchtop 2 x 8L kegerator. If that was on Kickstarter I would have signed up as an early adopter already. 8L kegs and small format is the perfect solution for me. (Would not...

Mini Reg vs Normal for party setup

I have a mini-reg that I got when I bought my 5L mini-keg. I don't use the mini-keg much anymore, but I still use the mini-reg with a soda-stream bottle & adapter. Use it all the time and has been fine for the last year or so. I wouldn't recommend a min-reg if it was going to be your only...

    I can't bleach it's not StarSan

Not an organic chemist - but I don't believe phosphoric acid on its own is an effective food use sanitiser. From what I understand the main function of the phosphoric in Starsan is to maintain a sufficiently low pH environment for the dodecylbenzenesulfonic to sanitise/kill bacteria. Like I...

    Sodastream for oxidation protection

I've done a similar thing to purge the headspace of a fermenter with CO2 after taking a lid off. When my mini-reg/soda stream bottle is just cracked open in line with the "LOW" mark on the dial, it flows roughly 3 L/min. Once you know that you can run your CO2 for a time that corresponds to...

    Overheating yeast after fermentation

If fermentation is complete, is raising the temperature too high likely to compromise a brew? While taking a gravity reading yesterday, I must have dislodged the temperature probe taped to the side of my fermenter. The Inkbird ran the heater all night, and when I discovered it this morning the...
