Black Rock Cider Opened First Bottle.

A mate and I had the exact same issue. He made a blackrock cider kit and it was crap. Weak and watery. He had to mix it with apple juice to get any flavour out of it. He also dabbled with mixing it with coke when he was low on juice, but ultimately he had to wade through it just to use it. I...

    Malty Mess

My question is this. If the man shelled out $40 should he really have to take a stanley knife to anything ? I'd be expecting pro gear if I shelled out that money. When I take my car to a mechanic I pay them top dollar, not because I can't change the oil, just because I don't want to and I got...

    E.s.b 3kg Kits

I did a ESB 3kg Baverian Wheat and it got down to 1.006 from 1.048 despite the amount of chucky bits in the can. Took a while though, my 3rd stable day was day 17.

    Cider Recipe

Well a small update on my recipe and progress. I've drunk a few bottles of this. It's a bit young. As previously mentioned the carbonation is light right now. It tastes suprisingly drinkable, I really wuite like it. It's a little tart and dry for my taste. Next batch I am going to add some...

    Cider A Go Go

What was your FG Bowie ? I ask because mine came down 1.070 to 0.098 after two weeks and one day, so I threw it into bottles.

    Cider Recipe

I just put this into bottles today. I actually let it ferment for two weeks since everyone said it takes a while, first reading was bang ... zero. Which I assume means it's bottling time. 12L Apple juice 9.6L Apple / pear juice 1.75 Dextrose Topped up with water to 22L SG - 1.070 FG - 0.00...

No Room For An Airlock In Bar Fridge

I have managed to secure a small bar fridge, my smallest fermenter just fits inside it with 1cm to spare to the top of the lid. I want to brew some lagers. Well, I want to brew anything at a lower temp than 24 really. My question is this, there is no room for an airlock. Does anyone have any...

    Have I Created Bottle Bombs!?

Quick question about exploding beer. I have been storing my beer in cardboard moving boxs and taping them closed. Will that prevent glass from going everywhere if they explode or am I underestimating the force of the explosion here ? The only exploding bottles I remember are my dad's 20 plus...

So My Brew Has Been Fermenting At 26c, A Noob's Tale.

Thanks for all the good info guys, the friendly welcome and the links. The heat has gone so the temp of my brews has dropped to 22c, but I am assuming the damage is done, as per the previous advice I'll chalk it up to a learning curve, drink my swill and move on to better brews.

So My Brew Has Been Fermenting At 26c, A Noob's Tale.

I am a total newbie to the world of home brew. I used to help my old man bottle when i was a little fella. That was pretty dodgy ( yellow garbage bin as a fermentor, with a towel over the top of it ), but I always understood the basic concept of homebrew. Other than that I've just been reading...
