    havnt had a chance to tast it til i get home from work today. yeast was "PRO- 74 ENGLISH PALE ALE YEAST" i have noticed some lightening of the wort i still have a couple of yeast in the fridge that are that old so next time i'll try the smaller 100ml starter.

    that pic is half way up the mash tun at the water level. the false bottom seen is a reflection. i'll try scrubbing it off with a plastic scourer but it is only a cheap stainless pot ($55)

    ok so i've got a cheap stainless pot that i'm planning on using as a mash tun. Now i've fitted a temp guage and false bottom.     is it possible to brew over two nights? say for instance one night mash and then sparge and siphon into a suitable large container, and then the next night boil it up and add hops? reason being is my weekend are getting busier and dont have time to get a brew down... has anyone tried this or...

    yea asher thats right :) HLT has a 2200W element MashTun - none Heat Excahanger - $10 kettle element Kettle - 2 x 2200W elements that will be able to be turned on seperately but also having the gas burner mounted underneath if i really want to get the boil going or put another pot on the burner...

    hey everyone, i'm in the process of building my herms rig. and got a question: should you allow the wort coming out of the MLT to splash into the KETTLE and therefore allow the wort to airate (slightly) or should i build in a filling tube to fill from the bottom up and therefore no splashing...
