Fermentation Problems with Coopers Brew A kit - help?

Reckon you could be right. I thought it was a strange OG I did try to splash it up a fair bit when adding the water to the 18L mark and swirled the fermenter around. But probably was a bit under done on the stirring though. So you would open the lid and mix it at this stage?

Fermentation Problems with Coopers Brew A kit - help?

After a year or so since my last home brew, I decided to ease my way back into the game with a kit brew. I went for the Coopers Brew A can and mixed 1KG of dried light malt extract to make a 18L batch. OG reading was 1028 which I thought was low but wasn't really sure what to expect of the...

Advice on Mega Jet cooker and 50L stainless pot

Thanks S.E. after looking into it a bit more I reckon I might save up and go for the single vessel brewery. Have you got experience with either the Guten or Brewzilla? Pros/Cons?

Advice on Mega Jet cooker and 50L stainless pot

Thanks - Digiboil looks pretty much exactly what I am after. Have you had experience with it? Recommend it? Unfortunately the 35L is currently sold out (back in August 10) - should I just wait or would this do the trick: https://www.keg-king.com.au/boiler-2300-watt-domed-lid-no-hole.html

Advice on Mega Jet cooker and 50L stainless pot

Looking to upgrade my setup from a 15L pot which I previously cooked on a stove top (electric) to a larger pot and stand alone gas burner. I am looking to brew 23L extract batches (eventually will look to get into BIAB/AG) and have been looking at the following: Mega Jet Gas Burner -...

First extract brew recipe (American Pale Ale) - Advice for improvements?

Not going to claim to be an expert with the hydrometer at this stage but fairly confident with the 1011 reading. I might keep the yeast strain the same for next brew so as to not change too many things at once but do you have a yeast strain that would work better? US 05?? I fermented at 20 C on...

First extract brew recipe (American Pale Ale) - Advice for improvements?

Will do. After doing a bit of research I was tossing up between Magnum or Northern Brewer hops for the bittering. I'll give the Magnum a go.

First extract brew recipe (American Pale Ale) - Advice for improvements?

Cheers BigD - I must admit I cracked another one last night and even a few extra days seemed to have made a difference in carbonation and improved flavour. What sort of quantities would you recommend for 30 & 15 min hop additions?

First extract brew recipe (American Pale Ale) - Advice for improvements?

Thanks Monkey - was thinking about tweaking my hop additions. Perhaps adding more later in the boil? Dry hop?

First extract brew recipe (American Pale Ale) - Advice for improvements?

So I recently cracked open my first bottle of an American Pale Ale I brewed using a basic recipe I got from the 'Brew A Batch' home brew book. Details below: Base Malt: 1.5kg Coopers 'Light' LME 1.5kg Briess CBW Munich LME Hops: 45g Cascade (6.5% AA) 60 min. boil Yeast: Nottingham Ale Bulk...
