    Bubbling Rate?

Thanks guys, yes I understand the importance of the specific gravity readings in determining whether fermentation has ceased. Was just curious to see if anyone else had experienced anything similar. Perhaps I should just adopt a “set it and forget it” approach and then I wouldn’t notice these...

    Bubbling Rate?

Hey fellow brewers, I am on my second all grain brew using a Robobrew. My first was a Citra Pale Ale, which whilst in the fermenter bubbled along for about 6 days at a steady rate of about once every 10 - 15 seconds. I now have a Weizen style in the fermenter and in comparison this brew is...

    Using kegerator for fermentation

Thanks guys, have cold crashed for 5 days then forced carbonation for 2, and this is my first pour ever! I think I may have nailed it. I didn't tell my son what style of beer it was and he said " tastes like a pale ale Mum". Woo Hoo ( I don't feel so bad about my $2000 investment now). Today...

    Using kegerator for fermentation

Thanks again for those who have offered advice. Have kegged my brew today after 5 days of cold crash. Now in kegerator doing the carbonation thing. Question - what temperature should I be aiming for to serve the beer, its a Citra Pale Ale. Thanks in advance. PS - Managed to shower myself in...

    Using kegerator for fermentation

Ok, next question.... after I assume that fermentation has finished i.e. by taking a hydrometer reading. How long do I have to let it sit for the yeast to "clean up"? Does this clean up process have to be at the same temperature as fermentation, or can I cold crash during this process? Thanks...

    Using kegerator for fermentation

Ahhh clever, so your creating a closed system for the transfer I gather? Will give it a go, thanks for the tip. :)

    Using kegerator for fermentation

Yes I guess it would be a bit faster with 2 people. Unfortunately my husband would be more of a hinderance than help and I would probably end up hitting him over the head with the CO2 bottle. So I will battle on alone and hope that next time I am a little better prepared. Day 4 and its still...

    Using kegerator for fermentation

Thank you to all who offered advice. I did my very first brew today, all grain pale ale using a robobrew. Took me approximately 8 hours, and I guarantee I made every rookie mistake in the book! But its in the fermenter and sitting steady at 18.5 degrees with the air lock starting to bubble...

    Using kegerator for fermentation

Hey all, I am new to brewing, and want to use my kegerator with a temp controller for my first brew. I am guessing that if the ambient temperature is lower than 18 degrees I will need some sort of heating pad to bring the temperature up. Also if the ambient temperature is higher only cooling...
