If you're a perfectionist, on the spectrum, complex, or everything is either black or white, YOU will know that all aspects of life can be pretty tiresome. If you cannot pull off a task perfectly, you consider it a complete failure. This failure then manifests itself as frustration and that...

    Braumeister - Tips & Tricks

After 6hours no sign of any sour smell and sour taste, has a slight fizz but could be air from the grain or the beginnings of fermentation. Will leave it go for a little while longer. Any reason why you mash in longer razz or others instead of mash out longer? Sorry if this has been covered. I...

    Braumeister - Tips & Tricks

I just found some distillers malt in storage and put some on to soak as an experiment to see if I get any activity. I'm guessing 6 hour soak isn't going to make a difference but I'm keen to see anyway just to keep my options open.

    Braumeister - Tips & Tricks

ok thanks. So you mash out for a longer period. Makes sense. I'm not sure if I was reading here or elsewhere but some were mashing in for extended periods @25C.

    Braumeister - Tips & Tricks

Just wondering if anyone has ever noticed any sour notes in their brews when doing an overnight mash? In the past I have soaked sorghum overnight and it is pretty funky in the morning from natural fermentation. Have you guys ever noticed this with malt? Is it even possible? I am definitely...

Kegmenter. Are they good to use?

Currently I use a blichmann hop rocket because I like the added bonus of filtering most of the trub and its great for serving as well But I do throw in loose pallets at various stages depending on what I am making. Never really had any dramas apart from a couple times when I had to vent the keg...

Kegmenter. Are they good to use?

I shortened the dip tube. 6-8cm from the bottom sounds about right. Put it around the same height as the tap on a 50l plastic fermenter

Kegmenter. Are they good to use?

Yes definitely not cheap. I sold those 2 yesterday which was basically a giveaway for what they cost. I just don't like seeing gear sitting there unused. I think those keg king ones are great value. Sure they are 4in and no thermowell but in reality you don't really need to get your arm in...

SS Brewtech 1/2 BBL Chronical Fermenter

Couple things to consider. Your ambient temps Your 2l reservoir does not seem adequate The heat output of the submersible pump in the reservoir Heat produced from fermentation Drainage for the condensation A bunch of science relating to the above It's totally doable and done able but in all...

Kegmenter. Are they good to use?

I use a coke bottle with a carb cap and a beer line splitter but the corny is a good idea too. I like it. The other option is whack the valve on after primary fermentation.

    Source for chili plants

There is a link above from DS post that I think sell them. I used those guys before. Good service. If you are importing seeds make sure you have the right declarations because if you get caught you will get life in jail. Maybe not jail but you get a slap on the wrist and get put on a list for...

    Source for chili plants

Generally chillies like it hot and humid. They hate the cold. So if you even get a plant it will struggle <15C. I would love to grow hops but they won't produce a worthwhile crop in my climate. You grow me some hops and I will grow you whatever chilli you want;)

Kegmenter. Are they good to use?

A local bloke in Townsville did it. I got 5 kegs done for $700 including getting the posts and thermowell welded That obviously didn't include the fittings and keg. The Keg King version want around at the time or I probably would have considered it. 4in is pretty tight tho for my guns to...

Kegmenter. Are they good to use?

I got some made with 6in triclamp. I love them. I use a spunding valve for pressure relief/adjustment whilst fermenting and serving. Probably the only downside is you can't throw them around like a corny. CO2 transfer only for me

Seeking compensation for exploding beer bottle

Lol ACA. Because if you want to be taken seriously go see Tracey Grimshaw... When the Australian government have a royal commission into beer, they will uncover the root cause was obviously the farmer of the grain. Other factors that played a part in said beer explosion- Delivery driver...

    Power loss with 2.4KWt element?

I run those SD controllers and never had an issue. 1x controlled 3600w element and 1x3600w uncontrolled element on dedicated circuits for 120l I also use a 2400w controlled element for a rims. Which is also on its on circuit as it would flick the safety switch if I ran a industrial fan...
