Colour Too Dark Using Jw Pils

Has anyone had any colour problems with JW Pils malt. Bought a 25kg bag recently and I've just brewed a La Chouffe clone using it, 7kg + 1kg of clear candi sugar. I expected a colour of around 8 EBC, instead it looks more like a red ale, my guess would be around 26 EBC. Mash was 60mins at...

    Hacker-pschorr Kellebier

Tried a Hacker-Pschorr Kellebier at the Bavarian Bier Cafe the other day and really enjoyed. Its bottle conditioned and apparently the brewery has their own unique yeast strain which I think could be cultured from the bottle. Anyone made this style of beer before? I would be interested in...

    Pasta Machine Grain Mill.....disaster

So I read some recent threads on Pasta Machines converted to grain mills and thought that's for me. Being someone who likes to try and do things on the cheaper side where possible. The idea of spending $20 on a pasta machine and roughing up the rollers versus spending $200-$300 on a grain mill...

    Ordinary Bitter Recipe

SWMBO has requested I brew something lower in alcohol than my normal 5%+ beers. I was thinking an English Ordinary bitter around 3.4% which would equate to a mid-strength local commerical beer. Using hops and yeast I have on hand I can knock this up for under $20. Any feedback on the recipe...

Anyone out there interested in swapping just a couple of bottles. I don't know if I'm ready to join one of the larger swaps and with all the talk about sub standard beer in the swaps I don't think I'd have the nerve I'm happy with the results I'm getting from extract and put my first partial...
