    Racking through thick trub

I have tried the angle technique and found still pulled through a fair amount of trub on the last 2 brews. One being a New England Pale, and the current one being a Rye IPA. There is only so far I can tilt back while in the fermentation chamber. So curious to hear if there are other solutions...

    Kegging Pressure

Touche. And the added bonus my Mrs doesn't see empties everywhere when kegging, so has no idea how much I have drunk when she gets home hahaha

Best way to add choc and coffee to stout

I agree with contrarian. You could make a tincture using vodka and soak the beans. Then strain the solids out and pour the vodka/cocoa concoction in. I did the same thing with vanilla beans recently, and a mate who is teaching me everything regularly uses this tincture method to great results.

    Stout Recipe - Need Feedback

Have you tried looking through recipes on beersmith and other sites? How I started was just looking at everyone elses recipes. And from there essentially picked different aspects from different ones. Always a bit of a trial and error, but so far my recipes have come out pretty good. I am by no...

Quantity of Belle Saison to use?

Nice one. Yeah not complaining with 7%, just got to be careful if you are using a big bottle. I was using 640mls for the Saison, which worked out to 4 standard drinks a bottle. Made sure to note that down when giving to friends so they didn't get in a jam with the law haha

Cheers from the Beaches of Sydney

Hi All, Fairly new member to this group and thought I'd introduce myself and show my setup. I am Jeremy based on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Attached is a photo of my brew setup (hidden behind the door is my bar fridge loaded with different brews I split with a mate) 4 brews going at the...

    Kegging Pressure

I have found the opposite with this beer. The more i go through, the more flat it goes. And here I thought kegging was going to be simple compared to bottling :P

    Kegging Pressure

Wow that is a hell of a response. Thanks for that. I am very new to the kegging department, so will have a look at all of that in detail. Appreciate the response and all the info.

    Kegging Pressure

Hey All, Kegged my first beer the other day, and after letting it settle from forced carbonation I had to set at 5psi for serving. This seemed pretty low based on stuff I have read. Would the cause of this be that the tubing is too short? Or could it be it's too hard? I did have some problems...

Quantity of Belle Saison to use?

Mine ended up at 7.9% after bottle conditioning. Was using 640ml bottles, and was 4 standard drinks to the bottle which was a bit much. Still pretty tasty though. Got one bottle left which I am putting in the cellar for science ;)

Quantity of Belle Saison to use?

Sounds exactly the way a Saison should smell. And a good abv. I went a little high with mine. Need to drop the abv a bit I think.

Quantity of Belle Saison to use?

I was planning leaving it out of the fridge in my brew room (glorified cupboard), which sits around 25c. The previous version I had in the temp controlled fridge at 18c. Still tasted good, but definitely after more of that funk character.

    Alpha Amylase Enzyme

Hey All, New member here. I recently did an Oatmeal Stout where through this site worked out I probably mashed a little too high and had some unfermentable sugars. So got some Alpha Amylase Enzyme to help break it down. How long would this usually take do you think? Should I give it a good...

BIAB- gonna have a go , need gear

I bought the KegKig keggle BIAB setup recently. The only thing different is the burner they offered. https://keg-king.com.au/brewery-equipment/brewery-kits/1-vessel-gas-brewery-biab.html Has been working quite well. Just bought a 32cm pot lid on ebay to help maintain temps.

    What Efficiency Are You Getting

I have the same problem with my BIAB setup that I can only get 55% Brewing Efficiency. I have changed the grain crush, and that had little affect for my system. I am at a loss on how to increase it now. Looks like we have a similar keggle setup though. So keen to see how you go.

Quantity of Belle Saison to use?

Such a beauty of a yeast too. It imparts some awesome flavours. Got rave reviews from a work colleague about the Saison when he tried it. Keen as to get going on another one. Will be leaving the next one out of the fridge, to get more of that funk flavour going.

Quantity of Belle Saison to use?

I recently brewed a Saison and used the same yeast, you will be fine with just the single packet. It goes off like a rocket so be prepared for that, have a blow off tube or additional setup handy in case of this. Cheers
