Vic Case Swap: Xmas In July Tasting Feedback

Had the best of intentions of providing feedback for each beer sampled.... but this didn't happen. Just finished the last of the case swap and have to give kudos to manticle and lecterfan for two well-crafted beers that were a little different to the rest.... ShaneR also gets a notable...

    Free Clean Coopers Longnecks, Melbourne

Hi manticle, Not sure how many iamozziyob plans on taking, but if I could pick up a case later in the week - that would be sweet. I'll see if I can find a bottle or two of whatever has been churned out recently for you... sap.

    Over The Side Immersion Heater?

I've never seen a 3600W over the side element and don't reckon you'll find one. If it were me, I'd go with a 2200/2400W fixed element in the kettle and also buy a 2200/2400W over the side element. This will get you up to the boil quicker (with both elements) and will also allow you to do...

    Juice Specials

My understanding is if sulphates/sulphites are added, these need to be listed on the ingredients panel. If they're not listed then they pasteurise. sap.

Hopdog Beerworks Is Opening... This Weekend!

Hi Tim, Good luck with this! Just out of curiousity, your Web site mentions a 200L 'nano-brewery' - is this something along the lines of a purpose-built brewery, a Braumeister or something you've built yourself? sap.

    Melb Cbd Good Beers?

Biero, Mrs Parmas, BeerDeluxe, Cookie are good places in the CBD to start. Particularly Biero on a Wednesday afternoon/evening with half priced pints. If you get a bit adventurous you could try Mountain Goat and The Royston in Richmond, The Courthouse and The Metropolitan in North Melbourne...

Immersion Heater Or Italian Spiral Burner

I'm curious to know what you're paying for gas if you don't mind me asking... and is it bottled LPG or do you have mains LNG? Have you ever calculated what it costs you in gas usage for a typical brew day? sap.

Immersion Heater Or Italian Spiral Burner

I'm all for electric elements as all the power goes into the wort and for me at least, its so much easier. Maybe a fixed 2200W element ($40) in your kettle and a 2400W over the side immersion element (~$100) for adjusting strike water/mash temperature and also getting your wort up to boilling...

Ghetto Braumeister - Biab W/ Controller

Is that pump rated to temperatures of hot wort (100oC+) and food grade? I can't find any references to the fact that it is and as it appears to be a pool/spa pump, wonder whether it's food grade... sap.

Vic Case Swap: Xmas In July Tasting Feedback

    8. Husky - Vienna Lager Pours a darkish color but quite clear with a nice tight fluffy head. Aroma of.... wet carpet. I tried drinking this but couldn't get past the wet carpet smell. Not sure if this sample was infected but I ended up tipping it. sap.

    Freezer Conversion. Bending Coolant Lines

*very carefully* Seriously, I had similar thoughts with a fridge/freezer I had and managed to turn it into an oversized Esky. Next time I had the opportunity I didn't bother as the chances of screwing it were pretty good. sap.
