    Queensland Amateur Brewing Competition 2017

It looks like the website qldbeercomp.org is suspended for some reason. Is there an alternate way to get my results?

    Belgian beerfest 2014

@ Ferg the brewer There is a hand full of YVB members on here, just not that active. I was very surprised at my own result with 4th for my Tripel. It was a 2 can with 8 different European hops in it and only raw sugar!!! I guess my experiment with this beer proved that good beer can be made...

What Did You Get For Xmas

2x 1.5kg Coopers wheat tins, 250gms of wheat, Saaz hops, and a yeast that was forgotten (In the fridge apparently)!!! Not completely sure if all this was intended for one brew, or to add to other future brews?! Also got a $30 voucher for Brewers Choice in Woori Yallock.

    3068 Starter - Sulfur Central

I personally think there's something about 3068. Last year I used a year old vial I had taken from a smack pack, built it up over a few days (no stir plate), chucked it into a Dunkelweizen and it blew out the airlock in only 24 hours, much like some of the previous pics in this thread. But...

    "top Ten Weirdest Beers..." Article/pics

I was going to say almost the exact same thing word for word!! Not the tomato bit though!

    Wheat Help

I did the same recipe as above, but the grain got stuffed up at the shop, and instead of 110gms of Munich, I was given 1.1kg!!! I still made it, turned out fine, but not really to the style as you could expect. It came 15th (of 37) in Vicbrew, Specialty Beer Category - 99.5 points, so it...

Uk Trip - Hunt For Real Ale

I loved some of the real ale pubs up north when I was over there in 09. Didnt get to Newcastle, but went to York. The Black Sheep beers were pretty good I must say. Pretty well all over the place the real ales were good. I couldnt help myself in London to have this pic taken after getting...

    Mixing Yeasts

Laundry Trough isnt an option, not wide enough for the fermenter to sin in and stay upright. It did have a bit of a Chardonnay taste to it 2 days ago, so I pitched some more Klsch yeast 2 days ago (gravity was 1030), and 15gms of Amarillo yesterday. Chardonnay taste has gone, and the aroma is...

Ahb Xl Polo Shirt For Sale

The 2 I got were pretty well faded away after 2 washes. Pretty poor printing. Just rags now as after a few more washes, the main color of the shirt was fading also.

    Mixing Yeasts

So far the fermentation is going poor. Temps hit 30c yesterday despite my efforts at keeping it cool with a wet towel and a fan blowing onto it. Its still fermenting away though, and the aroma from the airlock just smells like the Amarillo hops. It did look like there was an infection going...

    Mixing Yeasts

I will certainly post some results once the tasting is underway. Its good to see that I only pitched approx 3 hours ago now, and its already started bubbling away. I find this interesting as usually none of my brews have kicked off this quickly unless I have done a starter, and dry yeast...

    Mixing Yeasts

Well this is pretty much a left over brew. 2 tins of coopers Light 1 tin of coopers amber 30gms of Cluster flowers - 30 mins 30gm Amarillo pellets - 30 mins 19 gms of 7 various other hop flowers from last seasons crop (hallartau, cluster, chinook, mt hood, and others) 10 grams of Amarillo will...

    Mixing Yeasts

I guess I am not really seeking any outcome for this in particular. Its really a beefed up AAA, SG is 1074, and the IBU is around 48. Whitbread is more aimed at English styled beers, but I do like this yeast in malty beers. Klsch is obviously more a German style yeast, but according to their...

    Mixing Yeasts

Hi, Im trying a bit of an experiment with using more than one yeast. I have done this before, but didnt really document the yeast strains as they were from 3 different kit beers. I think one was from a coopers kit, another from a Malt Shovel kit, cant remember the other. I have brewed the...

    Extract Pale Ale

I'm pretty much trying to use p all the odd bits I have, that is why the original recipe had such small amounts of some hops! Next week I will be back to a full mash, most likely a Klsch!

    Extract Pale Ale

I just realised that is for a 44l batch, but that fermenter is currently in use! I might wind it back a bit I think!! Actually I may even rethink this one and try for an amber ale, juset due to current ingredients! Maybe something like this- 23L Batch 2kg Amber Liquid Extract 1.5kg...

    Extract Pale Ale

Hi, I have decided to slap a beer together today with some extract stuff I have lying around the place. I thought I would experement too with some hops i also have from last seasons crop. I am after peoples thoughts on this recipe. Despite it being called a pale ale, there will be no pale...
