Just checking through the brew log and found I'd brewed 38 x 22l batches last year for 836l of delicious home brew which is an all time record for me. How about you?
Nearly two years ago I ventured into making a lambic. I created some lambic wort (40% wheat and 60% barley plus aged hops, turned out to be about 19l) and commenced the fermentation in an ex-water cooler bottle in my cellar with the wyeast lambic blend.
The ferment has gone well, had a nice...
I've got a now (very) old Korg MS20 monophonic synthesizer, have had it for years and did a fair amount of work with it in my yoof. Amongst all of the keyboards I've owned at one time or another, it's the only one I've kept and I like to drag it out occasionally and play with the oscillators and...
I have my first Flanders oud brown on the go at the moment. I added the wyeast Flanders oud ale yeast a few weeks ago after initially fermenting with S05 and it's been trucking away nicely.
Have sampled the beast today and like where the sourness is at, but the sg is only 1010. Am wondering if...
Fell over this while looking for something else http://www.patsbackcountrybeverages.com/in...1&Itemid=55
Apparently it's for real if horrible no doubt.
I'm wondering about the carbonator though, that cold be handy to use with real beer.

I am working on some smoked recipes as I have a "quantity" of rauchmalt that I acquired and was wondering what if any impact the smoked flavours have on the perception of bitterness, or vice versa.
Should I, for example, when making a smoked version of a mild or porter, increase the hopping...
Up early his morning, jobs all done, BBQ sizzling some snags, sun shining, a nut brown ale in my pint glass and a fridge full of case swap beers for later. Reckon a nap on the back lawn is on the cards later.
How's your afternoon going?
I made a hefeweizen this afternoon, during the mash I put new seals on the beer fridge, during the boil I ran a couple of loads of washing through and hung them out, practised some violin, patched a bicycle tube, stuffed some greenwaste into the bin and swept the garage floor.
The mash temp...
This may be a bit librarian of me but, Amazon are going to make the Kindle available internationally - :beerbang: YAY :beerbang: - so all of your favourite brewing books, newspapers, magazines and other content can be on one handy device. They also are promising that the wireless connection...
Been a bit cold in the gong and I have been using my heat belt snugged around two fermenters in the last week.
I have been controlling the temperature with my fridgemate, and covered both of the fermenters with a nice woollen blanket for insulation. Everything seemed to be working quite well...
So, is anyone up for dry july this year?
I've started training for a long bike ride later in the year so will be swearing off for most of the month (with the likely exception of the 24th - NSW case swap day). Am aiming to lose 5 kg.

Interesting fragment of information on smh.com about PET bottles being used for wine and increasing oxidation. I imagine it's probably similar for homebrew. The actual report is here.
