    home made candy sugar

I thought I’d add my process, just in case anyone is interested. I was trying to make invert sugar to brew a recipe adapted from the Toothey’s Oatmeal Stout recipe in Bronzed Brews. I tried the process over at unholy mess, but I didn’t get any darkening of the sugar beyond concentration. I...

    Shepherd's Delight

Let know how it goes, it should be interesting. All I meant was that my Flanders Red wound up tasting like a soured bock, rather than a soured brown ale. So I wouldn't be using this in a beer that I didn't want tasting in the bock spectrum.

    Shepherd's Delight

I waaay over did the melanoidin malts in a quick Flanders Red, and I'm thinking Shepards Delight was a major contributor. 8.00 kg Vienna Malt (Weyermann) (5.9 EBC) 66.3 % 1.00 kg Oats, Flaked (2.0 EBC) 8.3 % 0.88 kg Caramalt (Joe White) (49.3 EBC) 7.3 % 0.65 kg Amber Malt (Joe White)...

    Different wort aeration kits

You might be thinking of KO2 It's the stuff found in self rescuers that need to be worn when going into an underground mine. Apparently the reaction in quite exothermic, and have been known to get hot enough to burn people while they are in use. Probably still more expensive than bottled O2 though

    2016 Vic Grain Bulk Buy

Hi Martin Is there a coupon code or something for the website? I was thinking of getting a few other things and though it may be better to order and pay online rather that stuff about with cards on the day.

    S-04 yeast.

S-04 tends to finish out at ~1020 for me if I don't aerate before fermentation

    Dry Candi Sugar Substitute

Menthol flavour in a beer sounds horrible. I would substitute raw sugar. It would be about the right colour, and the flavour is probably pretty close too.

"Bronzed Brews" Home brewing old Australian Beers

I've just dry hopped a stout that I modelled on Tooheys Oatmeal Stout, Though I just used a bunch of whatever malt I had on hand. I made my own invert sugar based on this thread. I'm going to try to brew a XXX soon as well.

    Pride of Ringwood

I've used POR late once doing this recipe. I didn't find it to be harsh at all. That being said, I don't think it would be an ideal IPA hop. It had a complex/muddy resinous herbal flavour similar to rosemary and oregano. I think it would be a great hop to support other in an IPA but wouldn't do...
