Brisbane North Water Profile - What Is It Telling Me?

The lengths we go too unwinding QUU's hard water. The evidence is clear at my house. QUU have changed their service and supply. More so recently I noticed a change in the hard water, Jan-18 - May-18 the toilet cistern and bowl caked like no other years, 1-2mm in thickness of hard water chemical...

    Brisbane Water for brewing

A swim in a chlorinated pool should if your a smoker, would if you are not a smoker ignite your sense of smell of chlorine in QUU tap water. Been human is very subjective to write about the quality of water. Proceeding with the simple simple scientific method, something needs to happen, time is...

2017 Hop Plantations, Show Us Your Hop Garden!

Hi, Nice thread about growing hops, I've found it to be a very informative thread of posts from fellas around Australia. Been a green thumb and new to brews, I wish to grow hops, though sourcing the rhizomes in Brisbane I'm not aware of where to start. If someone in Brisbane or sells interstate...

    Water Filtration Done Cheap

This is a good thread to share experience and ideas. I checked the links above, while the $7 bulk each looked good. I went with this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/322148738496?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Dual stage caravan water filter with garden hose connector...

Ginger Beer Recipe - Scratch Brew No Kit

The best price I've seen for ginger was at St Ives at Goodna, was $2 a kg special. Sadly I did not about this recipie and used it in tea. The weekend markets at Rocklea have some pretty good prices sometimes for ginger. $22 a kg at wollie, $25 a kg at cole.

No Rinse Sterilizer = Sodium Percarbonate, Napisan = Sodium Percarbona

Wouldn't a steam nozzle take off the ring and santisize most of the fermenter in seconds, i wonder and will experiment. Then risne with water, then swirl at least three percent hydrogen peroixde, then dry. Look up food grade 35 per cent hydrogen peroixde on ebay. Should be around $30.

    Fermenting.

Cheers mtb. Understood. Patience. Except nothing brewing in the fermenter I haven't learned patience yet... :) Room temp today would of been 33+ degrees celcius upstairs, it's peaked somewhere 39+ outside as I write. about 28 degrees celcius below. I've got a alcoholic ginger beer fermenting at...

    Brisbane Water for brewing

It is obvious to me that I need to improve on the QUU tap water I use. I'm currently using the boiling and chilling method as I have no other equipment to improve or test. The first beer and ginger beer I brewed using the boiling and chilling method, the result was better than I thought. More...

    Fermenting.

Thank you for the welcomes. SG reading this morning was 1010. Friday arvo or Saturday I estimate I'll be bottling. The taste is much better as time passes, fuller flavor and alcohol is a tad higher. Happy brewing.

    Fermenting.

G'day all, I've never brewed beer before, mostly just chatting with friends about it and researching. Finally it's time. What a great site, plenty of folks with tips and advice, good knowledge base into the brewing world. I brought a Morgans brew kit with the Blue Mountain Larger, it's on day...
