    Coopers English Stout

wow, I think I've found my new favourite recipe and it couldn't be easier to make. http://store.coopers.com.au/recipes/index/view/id/44/ Brewed in about 5 days, racked off for a week, keg and force carded today, and I couldn't resist a sneaky sample. Tastes so good. I bottled up 4 longnecks...

    Chilling wort in swimming pool

Apologies if this has been covered before. I did a quick search and only found chilling cubes in pools. I just put on a BIAB 20 litre batch. Up until now I have chilled in the laundry trough with many changes of water and a ton of ice. Today I carried it up to the pool and placed it on the...

First AG brew in almost 30 years.....looking for advice

G'day all I came back to the wonderful world of brewing last September and it's safe to say I am once again hooked. I gave up brewing in the late 1980's, and don't really know why it took me so long to get back here. Anyway, after some great kit results and even better extract brews, I am...

    Extract brewing help

I tried a Dr. Smurto's Golden Ale extract recipe in December, and it was very palatable indeed. I emptied both cans into the fermenter and "mashed" the caramalt, then boiled hops as directed. I have recently read that boiling the extract will give much better results. Just wondering if anyone...

Just wondering if anyone is brewing/has brewed this. Mine arrived in the post on Friday, and I intend to put this on next week. I read somewhere on the Coopers site that this recipe is best fermented at 24'c to help "bring out the fruity esthers" Obviously at 50 odd dollars, I want this to turn...

    Aluminium pot for mashing?

I have a 50 litre aluminium pressure cooker. Just wondering whether I could mash brew with an ally pan. I'm not sure whether there would be an adverse reaction. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean I want to pressure cook a mash brew......., just wondering whether the pan would be okay.

First brew in 20 odd years

Well, I've just put on a couple of brews. The first time I have brewed since the late 80's. I followed jackgyms suggestion for one of them, ie: Family Secret with 1kg of LDM and US 05 yeast. For the second one I followed the "Beer o'clock" recipe from the Coopers website. When I put the hops...

    New from Perth

G'day folks and thanks for allowing me in. Looking at putting on a few brews. I used to brew in my early 20's (now in my mid 50's) back in the UK. I was a mash brewer, making mostly English bitter beers. Most of my recipes were from a book by Dave Line called "Brewing beers like those you...
