    2 Beers, 1 Tap

Can you just get a flow control disconnect or flow control tap and attach it to the keg? I have a three tap kegerator and a spare keg of Australian sparkling ale that I can't help but drink. I have a flow control disconnect to a short piece of tubing and a bronco tap. It works a treat!

    Australian Wheat Ale Recipes?

I found it 'wheaty' enough - was based on the reported pac ale. So if you find it has enough wheat, then this should be fine. I would use less acidulated malt now that my pH meter is fixed. Your hop combo would work well. What can I say? I like hops. I don't like having leftovers, so that...

    Australian Wheat Ale Recipes?

This is a recipe that I had come up with, playing with the Pac Ale idea though trying different hop combos. When I tried the mollyhawk ale, it immediately reminded me of this recipe, at least with the flavour. I'm no expert (far from it) though I though that vic secret was the likely hop in...

    KegLand Questions and Answers

Wow! These are awesome replies! Thank you so much for the information. Looking forward to what you have to bring in the future (both education and product). I suspect that, considering most mead is recommended in glass, you are right and that the FZ would be a better option. It is only my...

    KegLand Questions and Answers

Just don't want to tie one up with mead, especially my first batch - I only have a few. And I have some of these aging belgians/barleywines. Reason for asking about the FZ is that I went to a stainless unitank a little while ago. I have the FZ conical unitank sitting around collecting dust...

    KegLand Questions and Answers

Quick question about the fermzilla. My father in law is keen for me to have a crack at mead. I was going to do the primary in a plastic bucket, then want to transfer for clearing/aging. How is the fermzilla for long term storage? Is there much risk of oxygen ingress over 6-12 months of...

Fermentation question rapid initial fermentation finished at day 4 and FG always higher than expectd

Just clarifying - are you checking your FG with the refractometer or hydrometer? If the refractometer, you will need to correct the reading for the presence of alcohol. I only ever use my refractometer for preboil and postboil gravity/OG. I double check my actual OG with the hydrometer (there...

    Gladfield Malt recipes page

They also have a dark saison recipe (which is in their booklet, but not on the website) I have it on tap and it is great. I did use wyeast 3031 (saison/brett blend) though. Delicious. Kinda reminds me of toffee, with a hint of banana and a great backnote of leather and funk

    Not your average pouring problem

I have KK flow control taps and have found a few times that the o-ring in the tap (where you can screw off the nozzle to change it, eg to a stout spout) can end up shredded and be a cause for foaming. Removing/changing it fixed my problem

Dry hopping leaves taste like chewing the pellets

I doubt it - only ever got that flavour with NS. I use metabisulfite, and am guided by Bru'n water using the water company reports. That particular beer tasted great with NS and mosaic together through the boil. It was when I dry hopped with them both (30g each) that it went horrible. I took...

Dry hopping leaves taste like chewing the pellets

I must say, I really like how keen everyone is to help out on this forum. Thanks for all the discussion! Re the FG - it was 1.010, bang on my expected. There are a few ideas on here I can try, and I can use that recipe to see how it goes. Maybe make it a split batch next few times and try...

Dry hopping leaves taste like chewing the pellets

I don't do secondary - add them loose into the primary, 2 days at ferment temp, 2 at cold crash, then keg. So they are removed at 4 days. That was for the 23L brew - I pushed it to 120g per BYO (https://byo.com/mead/item/569-dry-hopping-techniques), rounding up to 30g instead of 28g for an oz...

Dry hopping leaves taste like chewing the pellets

Thanks, mate. I've found this in dry hopping with 40+ grams. That beer I mentioned was to be a hoppy APA and is the highest I've done. That beer was to try pushing the dry hop a bit and see what all the fuss was about. I know it's a higher dry hop charge, but it wasn't out of the range of a...

Dry hopping leaves taste like chewing the pellets

Hi - wondering about others' experiences with dry hopping My usual process has been to let the beer ferment to completion, then add my dry hop charge. I store my pellet hops in the deep freeze (-20 deg), in their original packet, with the air purged as best i can and closed with those ikea...

Gravity post-mash vs gravity post boil not matching

Thanks all for helping me track this down. I agree with you, Mark. The sugar can't boil off, which is why I am so confused as to what I am doing wrong. With regard to mixing the sample, I take my pre-boil sample after getting the wort to the boil, which includes all the stirring to get the...

Gravity post-mash vs gravity post boil not matching

Hi all Looking for advice please. I have a Grainfather system, using BS2 for all my calculations (not the website calculator). Doing this, I have been able to account quite accurately my losses at each stage of the process. However, an issue that I keep having is that, after hitting my...

    Does dry hopping add bitterness?

Just for my 2c Just did a light pale ale, aiming to be kinda like the pacific ale, but with ella, galaxy and citra. Schedule as follows: Grain - 3kg american ale malt, 1.5kg wheat malt, 0.1kg acidulated for pH 10g galaxy @10 10g citra @5 20g each of citra/ella/galaxy for whirlpool est IBU...

    Keg King Intertap

Now that I have reduced my line, I'm getting good pours, especially after the tap has cooled (more foam on first pour, but don't have to tip out - especially with a little patience). That does bring me to the fact that patience is needed. I have to throttle it to slowest setting to start and...
