    Missing target volume

I've just brewed a batch of bitter and my post boil volume is 17L. I'm quite frustrated as I'm aiming for 20-22L post-boil and I've been missing for the last few batches. I even over sparged today to 27L as my pre-boil volume thinking that I'd have an excess after a 1hr boil. Is it simply that...

    Gypsum addition

I'm brewing an English Bitter today and I want it to be quite different to the American pale I brewed last week. My recipe, and some forums, say to add gypsum to alter the water chemistry. As I don't know the tap water chem, what are the benefits of adding gypsum? Some research I've done says...

    Burner efficiency

Hi all, I think I've got myself a burner that is too inefficient. I recently upgraded to all-grain, and my new burner takes about 60+ mins to get the wort to a boil. I'm using my mate's burner tonight, and it took all of 15-20 mins to get it to a rolling boil. Is there anything i can do...

    Burner troubleshooting

I've just got into all-grain and I'm optimising my new gear. My burner (two ring) took ages to get the 28L wort to boil. It's showing yellow flame, which I'm sure isn't right, and blackening the bottom of my kettle. Any suggestions on how to get a hotter blue flame?

Hey guys, I have about 200-250 bottles, mostly 330ml. Cheap as free. I was just about to toss them out but thought someone might cherish their presence in their cellar. A little dust, but all clean and ready for your brew.

    Wheat yeast help

I just brewed an amber wheat using Safbrew WB-06 and the yeast flavours are far too pronounced. It's quite drinkable, but I was hoping for more of a Shoff Hefe yeast character, and this is more like a bunch of bananas fell into the mash tun. I'm wondering what I should do next time: different...
