    Sink - Doreen (vic)

I just removed this double sink from my grandparents place. It'd suit a brew shed. Measurements approx 1.8m X .45m Make an offer.

    Chilling the wort.

I've been using the no chill method for a long time and wondering whether an immersion chiller might help to improve IBU accuracy. Does the no chill mean that there is greater contact time with hops, therefore my flameout hops become 20 min hops due to time wasted with whirlpool and no chill?

    Lactose intolerance and ciders

Pop 200-300g of honey in to sweeten. Just enough to sweeten without an overly honeyed flavour coming through.

    Water for Doreen, VIC

I'm in Doreen too and tried to investigate water chem too. All I coul find was that a water report of YV water said it was "quite soft". So for my English Pale Ale I added some gypsum to mash and boil.

    German Pilsner

It's definitely a german/kiwi pils, I make no bones of an old/new world fusion of flavours. Part of the beauty if brewing :) I did, though, brew an all English pale last week: all English pale malt, fuggles only and English yeast. It's a very interesting change from my AIPA.

    German Pilsner

I just brewed my summer pils today. 90% pils, 10% Cara-pils, 100% nelson Sauvin. I'll dry hop with 15g as well for a little extra on the nose. Absolutely beautiful for mid-summer :)

    Missing target volume

Looks like I had my burner set too high. The colour changed from gold to copper, which shouldn't happen, it's caramelised. Hopefully this doesn't affect the flavour too much. I've made some adjustments and it should be okay now. The wind was crazy yesterday and really played havoc with my...

    Missing target volume

Yeah, I've topped it up a few times, I just want to be a bit more efficient and get it right. :S

    Missing target volume

I've just brewed a batch of bitter and my post boil volume is 17L. I'm quite frustrated as I'm aiming for 20-22L post-boil and I've been missing for the last few batches. I even over sparged today to 27L as my pre-boil volume thinking that I'd have an excess after a 1hr boil. Is it simply that...

    Gypsum addition

Yeah, Brewsmith says its 16% of my grain bill, which is a little higher than normal. Should be a tad sweet :)

    Gypsum addition

You guys are awesome! I've added a touch, 3g, to the mash and it's doing its thing now. I'll tell you how it goes. I'm doing 5kg pale, 1kg Chrystal 20L. Then 30g Target @ 60, 10g Fuggles @ 20, 10 and flame off. Then dry hop 10g Fuggles. Safale 04 yeast. Should be English through and through...

    Gypsum addition

According to Yarra Valley Water, the water is "quite soft."

    Gypsum addition

I'm brewing an English Bitter today and I want it to be quite different to the American pale I brewed last week. My recipe, and some forums, say to add gypsum to alter the water chemistry. As I don't know the tap water chem, what are the benefits of adding gypsum? Some research I've done says...
