    Ag Brewers?

Well, as some of you may know, I am getting closer to my AG days with 80% of my gear setup. The only thing is - I have NO idea what to expect from the beers. I understand they are 100000% better than K+K but I would love to know, rather than just guess (if that makes any sense) Ideally, I...

    Newbe Question

And one more opinion just for good measure: I leave it in primary for about 5-6 days (until fermentation is complete) Rack to secodnary for about 2-3 weeks. Harvest yeast cake if necessary. After secondary, I put it in CC for about another 2-3 weeks. After CCing, I send her into the keg, force...

I like your idea GMK. Might see if I can incorporate that...

    Counterflow Wort Chiller

Yeah, I was wondering about that... but I;ve had a look at other designs and they vary from 4 metres to 8 metres. I could always run the wort at say 500ml per minute and cold water at a faster speed. Anyway, I'm sure I can adjust things to get it to work properly, if not a bit slower than 23...

    This Will Blow Your Mind!

Well, actually thats not true. Australia may not have marauding bears, but we have heaps of deadly/dangerous animals. Croc's, sharks, cassowary's, snakes, spiders, blue ringed octopus, irikanji box jelly fish (not sure how its spelled), mosquitos (ross river fever) etc etc etc. Maybe not along...

What Grade Ss Is In Kegs?

I don't know what the grade is, but My brother used a titanium bit to drill 5 holes in my kegs. It took him an hour per keg and the drill bit was absolutely smoking hot by the time he was done.

    Counterflow Wort Chiller

TL: heh... well I don't know that I'd be able to sell them competitivley. Mine cost $70 to build, and Goliath sell theirs for $80. For me to make any money off them I'd have to be able to sell them for $70, which would require making them for around $50 or even less. Nice idea though. As it...

    Counterflow Wort Chiller

I also forgot to mention, I had to drill the lip out of the inside of the coinettte union with a 3/8" drill bit. It is meant to stop the 3/8" pipe from going all the way through, but I wanted it to do that obviously..

    Counterflow Wort Chiller

Well, the copper comes in a loosish coil anyway. I straightened it out as best I could, slipped the copper in the tubing (which was no mean feat I might add)and the nput on all the fittings.once everything was in place, I just rolled it up by hand. I made 3 big loops first and then just gently...

    Counterflow Wort Chiller

Well, here it is. Mad Matt's hombrew CFWC. Made from 4 metres of copper tubing, 4 metres ofhigh temp clear PVC tubing, a couple of elbow joints, some conetite union thingy's and some hose-clamps. Not to mention a masacred garden hose  Getting closer to my AG setup day by day. Oh yeah...

    Which Malts

Pr1me, that sounds awesome! Can you post a recipe? I've never tasted, let alone brewed a porter. I'm getting a bit tired of my standard ale recipes. The toffee chocolate porter sounds like it would be a real treat! If I wanted to see what porters are all about, what do you recommend me trying?

Counterflow Chiller And Cold Break Q

Can I ask a really dumb question? When you attach a CF wort chiller, do you recirculate the wort back into the boiler or straight into the fermenter? My initial belief was you ran the wort from the boiler into the CF wort chiller and the outlet of this goes straight into the fermenter.. Is this...

    Weldless Fittings

Thanks sosman. Thats exactly what I needed! Your a champ! So far I've got the mash/lauter tun together, and Can pick up some great 3 ring burners from a campibng store for about $39 each. Just had a thought. For a sight glass, I could always create 2 bulkhead fittings with brass elbow joints...

    Weldless Fittings

Howdy all. Been following things on here for quite a while. I've managed to source some stainless steel kegs (2 in total) to make a HLT and a boiler. I need to attach taps to these (obviously) and would like to attach a sight glass to them (at least the HLT). Does anyone know where to pickup a...
