mate that pump might be a little over powered! :-) I use the Aquapro 1050 pump from bunnings which is 18W (upgraded from the 550 model which is 10.5w) - they run my water through the IC fine. I drop in the bottom of my bucket of ice water to take the last 10-15c off the wort after the hose...

Great you managed to spend time with him, his Beer Hunter TV show was on Youtube I think so I've watched all of those. Kind of a shame the beer evangelist switched to wine but I suppose Australian wine is pretty compelling and it's not like Australians are doing anything earth shatteringly...

Nice tip on Ebay I certainly wouldn't have thought of that as a source to find books! If anyone has 'em do let me know, but it looks like Ebay plan B could be a goer.

Update- I bought the small tin of Zinsser B.I.N. shellac based primer & sealer as suggested and painted a couple of coats on, it seems to have worked like a champ and although you can maybe still get a whiff of fuel if you sniff hard enough my garage doesn't reek of fuel anymore so I'm taking...
