    Founders Canadian Breakfast Stout

I tried this on tap in Brisbane for the first time yesterday & I'm in love! I've read that it's the same base beer as KBS that has been aged in spent bourbon barrels that had maple syrup aged in them afterwards, so it wil be difficult to recreate, but goddamit I'd love to give it a try...

    Conditioning a Flanders Red Ale

It's my first time brewing a Flanders Red (Jamil's AG recipe from BYO) using White Labs Belgian sour mix 1, and it's almost ready to transfer to secondary for conditioning. I have a 23L glass carboy but only have 18L in the FV, and wondering if this much headspace will be an issue over the 12...

    Using bourbon-soaked oak cubes

I've done a fair amount of reading with regard to soaking oak cubes in bourbon to use in secondary, but there seem to be a hundred different opinions/ways to do it, so hoping someone with some experience doing this might be able to answer a few questions. I have 15L of RIS (OG 1.088) fermenting...

Looking for a RIS recipe for Grainfather

I haven't attempted a RIS in the Grainfather yet, but based on what I've read, it would either require an addition of DME to the boil, or a reduced final volume to compensate for the 9kg grainbill limitation. Has anyone tried brewing a RIS in a Grainfather yet? Keen for any recipes, hints/tips...

    No chill in SS brewbucket

Thinking of investing in a SS brewbucket & wondering if I could no-chill the wort in the bucket overnight, rather than a HDPE cube, without too many issues. Anyone doing this already? Any issues around oxidation? It seems to have a fairly good seal from what I've read/watched on youtube.

    FS (BRIS) Electric Keggle

Looking to sell my electric keggle as I no longer have any need for it. Was getting into AG and looking at starting with BIAB (and possibly 3V down the track) but have since bought a Grainfather instead. Purchased from another AHB member (Lespaul) around the middle of last year but never got...

James Squire Dark Side cherry stout

Had this on tap at the James Squire Brewhouse in Brisbane last year & really enjoyed it. Described as 'elegant full-bodied stout, strong roast & chocolate notes with a dark-cherry heart' Ideally looking to brew something along these lines, the malt bill was listed as: - pale - dark crystal -...

    No chill question

I did my first AG brew on Sunday after getting a Grainfather for xmas (no looking back now). I used the 'Mr Simcoe Pale Ale' Grainfather kit for simplicity & everything seemed to go reasonably well except my post boil volume was closer to 21L than the 23L stated in the recipe (no idea why, open...

    90 minute boil question

I am going to do my first all grain brew this weekend after finally getting my Grainfather. I grabbed one of the Grainfather recipe kits (Mr Simcoe Pale Ale) to try & keep it simple for my first time. The instructions state a 90 minute boil is required, however the first hop addition is at 60...

    Lack of carbonation in keg

I have a 19l corny that has been on the C02 at 12psi for 12 days, which I find is usually plenty. This time, not so great, only a small amount of head & not much in the way of bubbles in the beer. It's a pilsner, so I was looking for a bit more carbonation. The keg is earmarked for a xmas...

First lager - need for diacetyl rest?

Now that I have a temp controlled fermentation fridge, I thought I'd try an actual lager yeast. To that end, I've giveb the Coopers Czech Pilsner recipe a go; 1.7kg TC Pilsner 1kg light dried malt 25gm saaz pellets (steeped in 500ml boiled watee for 15mins & added to FV) W-34/70 + kit yeast...

    Belgian Dark Strong Ale

Wondering if anyone has tried making the Rad Abbott recipe from the Coopers website & if so, what you thought of it. I'm going to give it a go, but thought I might experiment with some Dark Candi sugar & possibly a liquid yeast, neither of which I have tried before. Would love some feedback...

(BRIS) WTB - Bottle tree / rinser

As the title suggests, chasing a bottle tree/rinser for glass tallies. I'm on the southside of Brisbane near Carindale & work down at the Gold Coast.

    WTB - Bottle Capper (Brisbane)

Chasing an adjustable 'super automatica' style bottle capper. Not too keen on the 2 handed variety or anything that requires a hanmer.

    Russian Imperial Stout

Going to try the Coopers 3 can RIS recipe (with some specialty grains) this weekend, and looking for some advice on hops, yeast etc. to trick it up a bit. At this stage I am working on; 1 x can Coopers Lager 1 x can Coopers Dark Ale 1 x can Coopers Stout 100gm roasted barley 100gm chocolate...

    Feral Boris (Russian Imperial Stout)

Keen to try an Kit/extract + specialty grains RIS recipe, ideally looking to brew something along the lines of Feral's Boris (one of my favourite beers). Have seen a number of RIS recipes on AHB (such as Coopers 3 can & dex), but wanting to know if anyone has a recipe for something similar to...

    Dry hopper for corny keg

Has anyone tried using one of these to dry hop in a keg? Just seen it on Ebay and wondering if anyone uses one, and if so, whether they are worth the $90 they are asking (albeit with free postage from China).

    WTB: BRIS - electric keggle

Wanting to buy a 58l electric keggle to get into AG, BIAB initally with the thought that the keggle could be used in a 3V system if I head down that path in the future. Have seen them previously on Keg King for $249 including element and ball valve but they don't appear to have them anymore.

    Electric Keggle for BIAB

Have been keen to make the jump to AG for some time, and have settled on BIAB as a more cost effective way to get started. Had originally considered a 40l crown urn, however after further reading I am leaning toward an electric keggle. The idea being that I would have the option to do double...
