    Spike brewing conical fermenters unitanks

The 15G one. But i've now seen the 55L fermentasaurus is now available so debating on the merits of both.

    Spike brewing conical fermenters unitanks

I kind of figure that a temp controlled fridge is the way forward. I need one to control my yeast too so kind of means i have no real choice. Plus i concluded that i may get too much condensation in summer if only it is cooled. I brew in a not yet wet room (plan on eventually getting it tilled...

    Spike brewing conical fermenters unitanks

Sorry to drag up the thread, but is anyone planning on getting one of these anytime soon? I'm planning to get one early next year, figure i need to get organising (and convince the wife of the soundness of the purchase). Also is anyone cooling the fermentor with the internal coil and...

The Impacts Of Freezing, Heat and Light on Beer

Lols, so reads like a normal tasting carona in all cases? Reckon it would have been more appropriate to use a beer that isn't already tainted like the Carona which crosses the equator in unrefrigerated shipping containers.

Seems to be good now fortunately.

    Fermentation high heat

Can i hijack this post? I did a brew on Friday. Didn't use my spider filter in the boil. Big mistake. it clogged up my bazooka filter and made the cooling super problematic. Result, wort added to fermentator at something over 40 degrees. The fermentor fridge did it's best to lower this temp...

Where to get conical flask and stir plate?

Thanks, but due to being in Canberra and the brew shed outside (where the yeast starters will be made) i need a heated one. In winter that shed gets down to about 3-5 degrees and stays there most of the time.

    Complete brewery build

Going better. We moved house and i only just got the brew system ready last week. So last week i did my first brew for almost 1 year. Now i wish i could have done it again as its a holiday today. But only have 1 fermentator (well temp controller). So will have to wait till next week. Going to do...

Where to get conical flask and stir plate?

Anyone know of any brew related shops which sell these as a package, or at least in the same place? Cheers Hawk

    Electronic control box mount

Hi all Been quite a while since last post. I recently moved house and so haven't been able to set up my rig for a while. Finally that is happening. Need to get a decent circuit connected to my garage. What i'm after is some advice/suggestions on how to mount my control box. The internal...

    Electric brewing -controller

I recommend the DSPR that does mashes too. I've got one, forget which model it is specifically. Otherwise you'll have trouble keeping mash temps. 6Kw is a lot, but will make for fast boil and temp increase. My 17 odd G pots have 4.4Kw (2x2200w). They increase temp fairly quickly - although not...

Craft beer tax axed in federal budget

Not true. The excise is broken into above 48 and below 48 1.1 Alcohol volume not exceeding 3%, individual container up to and including 48 litres (from ATO website). There is no separate item for bottles. So if they reduce the below 48, then it also impacts beer bottles. That's why beer...

Craft beer tax axed in federal budget

With any luck these changes will reduce the price of bottled craft beer. If the exise becomes the same from >48L and <48L, it should. Alcohol excise increase per CPI twice yearly, so will still have biannual increase. Look forward to seeing a case of craft beer coming down to less than $80...

    Usefulness of a hydrometer

Welcome. In a word, a hydrometer is an essential part of a homebrewers kit. I tried to make use of just a refractometer. Didnt work as refractometers don't really work accurately when alcohol is present. Anywho, there are multiple threads here about these topics. A hydrometer is used to...

Government brews up plans to strengthen Brisbane's craft beer scene

That's a federal tax - excise. But agree, rather ridiculous. Plenty of other ridiculous bits in our federal tax system. In other news... craft breweries to get tax break (can't link article is paywalled in todays Daily Tellie).
