    Beer Line Length Help

Sorry for not getting back to this. watHop - You're right the kegs were over-pressurised, but in the end, not by that much. I did empty them of CO2 at one stage, but they would have still had some residual pressure dissolved. I'm back around where I was pressure-wise, but the length changed...

    Beer Line Length Help

Well diagnosed Timbo. I gave it a rest while I cooked dinner. Came back, re-did the calculations, realised it was actually 5mm line and cut it back to 2.5m as per a new calculator. Perfect pour. I was worried this was going to go on for weeks.

    Beer Line Length Help

So I've decided to properly balance my beer lines. For ages I had the pressure at around 16psi (seems a little high now) with 3.3m of beer line, 5mm ID, with the centre of the keg sitting about 35-40cm below the tap. Line runs up into a coil on the inner side of the fridge then traveling...

Foam from two of four Taps/Keg

Well don't I feel stupid. :P I was reading the wrong scale on the regulator. Assumed 1 bar was 10 psi (who knows why, could have been the beer) and set it to around 1.2bar thinking that was 12psi. Needless to say, when I connected the regulator after getting a co2 refill this afternoon it...

Foam from two of four Taps/Keg

Would i be correct in assuming there'd be visible foam in the lines in that case? I'll investigate tonight. Haven't had a chance to do much more yet.

Foam from two of four Taps/Keg

That is definitely an option. It would look a lot nicer.

Foam from two of four Taps/Keg

So could be worth soaping/spraying the tap during a pour to see if it's doing the same you reckon?

Foam from two of four Taps/Keg

I've been serving around 10psi. I'll give the reverse a go soon to confirm in regards to taps. Yep, first pour has always been a bit of a write off. Always far worse on the floryte tap in question obviously.

Foam from two of four Taps/Keg

So, longer beer lines to increase friction prior to pouring?

Forgot the before and after pics

Foam from two of four Taps/Keg

Connected the keg in question to different line/tap. Much less foam than the floryte, although there's still quite a bit, the pic includes the final pour spit from the keg so a little extra foam. Can safely say it's either the lines or the tap. Will confirm with a pour of another beer...

Foam from two of four Taps/Keg

Disconnects should be good but the o-ring could be worth a check too. Shame. The tap has never really had a clean. Had a few kegs through it. Guess I'll add that to the to do list. Cheers guys. This has all been an eye-opener. Keep 'em coming.

Foam from two of four Taps/Keg

Hmmm, the kig is a bit questionable too. I guess when I do the swap I can test another keg on the floryte taps to confirm it all. It has a lot of troubles with the gas disconnect. Has to be in the right spot otherwise there's a small leak. It's far from trustworthy.

Foam from two of four Taps/Keg

Haha, I figured maybe they were just reflecting my excitement, I understood, I wasn't juding them. I thought maybe the taps, due to everything else being the same. I did also notice, when changing pressures, that they didn't like to not have a constant flow otherwise nothing but foam. I'll...

Foam from two of four Taps/Keg

Hmmm. No. Good idea. I was going to try swapping the two florytes over as one is worse than the other. Will give it a go.

Foam from two of four Taps/Keg

Hi all, Quick question. I've search the forum and google in general but couldn't find an answer. I have a kegerator setup, Keg King gas bottle, micromatic reg, 4-way distributor inside the fridge (are these all the same or are there better brands of distribution blocks?), from there I've got...

Double Stout SG and FG - Stupid Question?

It should be at least 18L, at least. I don't mind 7%, but 12% is a bit over the top. Thanks for the replies, must have just needed more of a mix first.

Double Stout SG and FG - Stupid Question?

That could explain it. But I'm pretty certain I was stirring it while I was filling with cold water so it should have been well mixed. But who knows, I thought it was strangely high was well. I can't guarantee it was more than a 20l batch though. These are secondhand fermenters that I got...

Double Stout SG and FG - Stupid Question?

So I read of a recipe somewhere years ago that suggested adding 1 tin of coopers stout and 1 tin of coopers dark ale. I did just that. I added 1kg of Coopers BE2. While finishing up, just before adding the yeast, I couldn't remember what the suggestion was for yeast, add both from each tin or...
