    Cleaning Bottles

i normally use no-name nappysan (find one with the most sodium percarbonate with no scent) and it gets my bottles clean with minimal effort, and ive cleaned some pretty horrible ones full of mould etc. if you really want to get the job done though, caustic soda will be your best bet, but be...

thats cascade brewery mate. can smell it from my place when the wind blows just right. they do make redback for matilda bay (have tasted it fresh and unfiltered before, much much nicer than the stuff in the bottle). not sure if they do beez neez though.

The Great Chinese Hop Buy 2009

im the same for the next buy, only planning on sending a 3kg express post bag (have a few here at home already anyway), so im happy if mine come in a little under weight. hell, its going to take me forever to get through 3kg of hops anyway!

    Hop Prices In Tasmania

its a joke, yes. and freshness? haha, their hops are in zip lock bags and about as stale as they come! tassie sucks for homebrew :( edit ps. im back! probably havent posted or brewed in nearly a year. put on my first batch in ages last week. good to be back on the horse

    The People's Beer

no, thats not the point at all. my point is that many people are afraid to branch out and try new things. brand name loyalty is a bad thing imo. i like to take every opportunity to try something new.

    The People's Beer

totally off topic, but which directory assistance do you work for? i work for 1234 and thats pretty much the case for me. it extends beyond that sometimes though, eg when people ask for say bavarian beer cafe, i like to suggest a decent beer to try (chimay, la trappe, duvel, orval, westmall...

    Boiling Hops With Sugars

that would be a pretty horrible thick sticky mess imo... you would also get rather average efficiency out of the hops. the best gravity for extraction is around 1040. better off with 1kg for 10 litres of water.

    Netscape Change

Ive been using firefox for years now, since back when it was called firebird. Love it, use it as my main browser on my main pc. only real plugins i use are session saver, adblock plus and Flashblock. On my laptop (eeepc 901) i use google chrome, as it feels a little snappier, uses less...

So What Time Does Your Bar Open On Xmas Day

this year I'll be starting around 8:05pm on the 24th (knock off work at 8:00pm, gives me 5 min to get out of there and to the pub and order a beer :P) probably have some sort of shut eye before starting again on the 25th.

Cascade Golden Harvest Lager - Smells A Bit Like A Fart.

iirc the cascade kit comes with a lager yeast. that is going on memory though, could be wrong. regardless, the cascade kits are renowned for coming with terrible yeasts. much better off throwing it out and spending a couple extra bucks and getting a decent yeast. if its sulphur, then time...

    Looking For Brewing Wisdom

also be careful dry hopping with fuggles, as it can taste a bit "grassy" a little goes a long way with this hop when dry hopping.

    Bitter 77

dont just boil the hops in water, you need some malt in there as well to aid extraction. also, hops in just water has a tendency to taste "grassy" around 1040 is a good gravity for boiling hops. 100g of dried malt extract in 1L of water = 1040

    Bitter 77

I would only use 1 carb drop per bottle, its a bitter, so its a low carb style beer. that said though, bulk priming would be heaps better to get the carbonation spot on.

    U Brew It

have you even read this thread? lol. going on what ive heard on this site, and some mates personal experiences with BOP's, the general consensus is that they are pretty terrible. its just making extract homebrew in a shop, then they filter and force carb it for you. there is a market for...
