2017 Hop Plantations, Show Us Your Hop Garden!

Thanks mate. Found this little fucker and his whole family tucking in to my leaves. Fed 'em to the ants. They are good at blending in, took me a while to find them all. Aside from physically destroying these guys, is there another way of keeping them at bay?

2017 Hop Plantations, Show Us Your Hop Garden!

I've noticed these small brown marks popping up all over my plant, they start off a mottled brown colour then slowly turn to small holes, is this caused by pests or do I have something else on my hands? The white powder on the leaves is just veggie dust that was applied prior to the photos.

2017 Hop Plantations, Show Us Your Hop Garden!

This little fella just popped his head out of the dirt today. My first time growing so I'm stoked it's off to a flying start. It was planted last Monday, these little suckers take odd quickly. You could almost sit and watch it grow.. I was fertilising the lawns today with some dynamic lifter...

Help with Recipe - 4 Pines Double Cascadian Dark Ale Clone

Your second rendition looks good mate. Just remember that you'll still get SOME isomerisation from your 0 min additions, unless of course you chill your wort in <5 mins. I always set my flame out additions to around 2 mins to compensate for that fact, seems to be a little more accurate. Usually...

Free - Old school coopers long necks

I have six crates of old (possibly '90's) coopers longies which were gifted to me a year ago which I never used as I'm kegging my beers these days. They're all in good condition, some have the labels still on but they are really thick walled and sturdy. Located in south West Sydney near the...

    Garage Project Wireless IPA yeast?

    B. Clausenii is a good choice, tonnes of overripe fruit character going on. I've had good results with wlp644 for the pseudo-Brett characteristics in 100% Brett fermentations. My last Brett ipa I used the yeast bay's amalgamation and it was great, if y can get your hands on it I highly recommend it.

    Keggerator making ear piercing noise

Unfortunately I don't have the user manual, and can't seem to find a online version of it either (not surprising considering the age). Thanks for the link to that thread, good to see there's a few people that've been able to fix it fairly easily. Luckily I do have a replacement panel as well as...

    Keggerator making ear piercing noise

So my keggerator just started making an incredibly loud, ear piercing noise, it sounds like its an alarm of sorts. The display screen is showing 'EE' and blinking. I noticed last night that the temperature had switched to Fahrenheit from Celsius on the display screen and wasn't allowing me to...

No beer in lines - keg king kegerator

Hahah, so turns out I didnt have the disconnects pushed on hard enough  I was being overly cautious in trying to push them on because the first time I tried I broke the first gas disconnect. All is good! Except the beer isn't fully carbed yet. The reg has been set at about 13-14 PSI at 3...

No beer in lines - keg king kegerator

G'day, i've just invested in a second hand kegerator recently, which im having troubles setting up. Currently its all set up, though there isn't any beer going through the lines at all. Here's what i've tested so far: -gas bottle is full and turned on -checked for leaks at every...

    BIAB Double IPA, first time

Yeah will do. Im just using a hydro at the moment, though I think i'll be buying a refractometer very soon. Taking preboil and sg readings are getting tiresome sticking the bloody thing in the freezer all the time. Not to mentioned I partialy melted the hydro tube taking a reading :blink...

    BIAB Double IPA, first time

Alright I just ramped it up then. I'll take another gravity ready tomorrow to check. I didnt use o2 as i dont have a kit for it, but it did get a whole lot of manual aeration going into the fermenter, then a decent shake. Notes from the brew day: Mash volume was 33L Mash in at 68ish...

    BIAB Double IPA, first time

So I ended up brewing this up Wednesday last week, made a few changes to the grain and hop bill. Ended up using warrior as a FWH to get it up to 50 IBU, then the rest of the biterring from late hopping. Theoretical IBU was 100. | Malt bill was as follows: 2.5kg MO 2.5kg Pale 1kg Wheat (not...

    BIAB Double IPA, first time

Yeah i've fixed it. Should've known it wouldnt have copied right from beersmith. Should be a tad better now. Im also thinking of saving about 7L to do a mini sparge in order to up my efficiency, not 100% sure though. Thanks for the info mate. If I had a kegging set up i'd be going nuts keg...

    BIAB Double IPA, first time

Gday, looking to do a double IPA in the near future, i'm BIABing in a 50L pot doing 23L batches, usually using about 5-6.5kg of grain in total. That is about as much as the pot can take when mashing so i'm thinking about subbing some of the grain bill for dextrose or maybe a tin of extra light...
