    Pre milled Grain

Thanks for the replies. I ended up just chucking in the entire 4kgs. Will get my own mill soon. Ended up with only 63% eff. Hopefully when i get a mill and can go a bit finer this will improve. All in all it went really smoothly though, very glad i made the jump to ag.

    Pre milled Grain

Hey Doing my first all grain tomorrow. Bought ingredients i needed from lhbs. My question is about the grain. It comes in a 4kg bag pre milled, and i notice all the "dust" sitting in the bottom of the bag. I only need 3kg of this particular grain so there is no way i could get an acurate...

    Keg King Kegerator "Gurgling"

Can anyone who owns a keg King kegerator tell me if the units making a gurgling sound is normal? I know it's the refrigerant running through the evaporator but it's fairly loud even when closed. I'm sitting about 8meters away from it right now and it is still quite loud. Can hear it even with...

    Sly Fox Summer Ale

Sorry I haven't updated this in so long, work is unbelievably busy for me this time of year. So I gave it about 2 months and it still had a gross aftertaste, BUT another brew that I had in the same fermenter had the same aftertaste too. Completely different recipe, same aftertaste. And like the...

Pimp a Coopers Ginger Beer Kit?

That sweetness is probably the artificial sweetener in the coopers kit. Nothing you do will get rid of it. You would need to find a kit with no artificial sweetener or a kit where the sweetener is in its own sachet and not add it.

    BigW PET bottles- poor carbonation

I used to use the coopers pet bottles and they always worked fine. I got two cartons of big w ones to replace old, too far gone coopers bottles and they were absolute ****. Only a few would hold carb. Replaced these with new coopers bottles and found out they are not as good as they used to be...

    Sly Fox Summer Ale

Kegged this today, might have let it dry hop a day or two longer than I planned but im not worried cause it smells awesome. Hit my OG and FG right on the money, happy with that. The off taste I was detecting eailer seems to have subsided a bit, or maybe the dry hopping is just masking it...

    Sleeve fermenters

Still, why risk it? Just as easy to pour from your tap.

    Sleeve fermenters

just slides in, no airlock. They call it a "Krausen collar". It moves up and down depending on co2 levels. Just saw that panzerd, still $65 after shipping is a bit steep imo

    Sleeve fermenters

I have one, it was the first fermenter I got and I still use it. The thing I like about it is the tap is a bit higher than regular fermenters which gives you more control of the trub and hop matter entering whatever vessel you are transferring to, whether its a secondry, keg, bottles or...

    Sly Fox Summer Ale

Not sure, never had an infection. Almost medicine like, hard to explain. Not like beer thats all I can say. I'll still keg it regardless and see if it improves over a few weeks. Dry hopped it today, so I'll leave it 4-5 more days in the fermenter

Pink brass after soldering. Copper? Safe?

It is a result of the flux. When you weld with flux, like you do when welding copper to brass, it can create a slag. This will be washed away when you clean it. You wont get rid of the discoloration, but it is nothing to worry about. Sorry to confuse you, worded badly.

Pink brass after soldering. Copper? Safe?

Lol, no you dont want flux residue contacting the wort, If there is any slag on the internal joint it should be minimal and will wash away when you flush it.

    Sly Fox Summer Ale

Eh, not sure about this one. Its not tasting fantastic out of the fermenter, feel like I stuffed something up but cant think of what it would be. Brew day went well, ferment temps constant. Haven't dry hopped yet, will be transfering to secondary and dry hopping tomorrow. Will post again in a...

Pink brass after soldering. Copper? Safe?

You have to remember welding is HOT, alot hotter than 100°c. Your not going to damage the joint.
