    Dry hopping with wet hops.

I normally brew with mine within 24 hrs wet, so I don't really know. You will know when you open the bag and sniff test. They will have a strong Parmesan cheesey rotten feet smell if the oils have turned rancid. Like most things brewing, experience is your best teacher. Nature designed those...

    Dry hopping with wet hops.

Be careful storing those wet hops captain sparrow, they oxidise and break down very quickly when in plastic wet! A cooler whirlpool or hop stand may be safer option.

    Dry hopping with wet hops.

Chlorophyll tastes a bit like grass... It's what makes hops and plants green. I doubt drying hops/bugs will lead to a more sanitary product ( unless high temps are used), so wouldn't worry too much on infection. Alcohol and low PH will offer some protection also. I feel ripeness of your hops...

Advice using fresh hops in secondary please?

Nice work.. For my wet ales I bitter with pellet for IBU, then load up with fresh hops at around 10 mins and flame out/whirlpool. I use as recommended by Sierra Nevada, 8 times the weight of dry. So for my 50l harvest pale I'll do, from memory, 2 to 3 additions, each of roughly 200g wet hops...

    Advice wanted on drying hops

Whipped this thing up pretty quick. Put flyscreen under drawers, exhaust fan on top, dehydrator base underneath around 30c and plugged al holes. First run dried almost 4.5 kg wet POR in 24hrs. More drawers would be nice.

    Which hops to grow?

Fuggles grows great here in Tas. Earliest of my varieties to come on and crops heavy. Goldings can be a pain... Massive plant growth but not many flowers. Trial and error I say.

Can you string it back up matrix? I had a few fall on me last year so I tied bailing twine to the end of the bines and lifted them back up. Would be good to get them off the ground.... I feel your pain!

Growing Hops along a fence - bines stop growing

. Not sure of variety, but I'm guessing by the long cones on it last year that it's a POR. It's been establishing there for many years so I'd say there's a few crowns under all that growth. I'll take a closer look at her when she flowers and try to identify it.

Growing Hops along a fence - bines stop growing

I can't help but think that the latitude of your growing area may play a part in the timing of flower commencement also. Sydney's nights are currently 55 minutes longer than Tas and Adelaide are 45mins longer than Tas.... As well as warmer temps, just a thought. Now to get us back on topic...

Problems transferring hops - what should I do?

If the leaves are crunchy the cells are damaged beyond repair so no real point in keeping at this stage of the season. Personally I would cut back to healthy soft leaves,if there is any, move it out of all sun for now and try and get that plant hydrated. A light mist of water may help her drink...
